For some reason I get 17-18 mpg and I have modified my Coupe a bit. I have installed a Popcharger, plenum spacer, high-flow cats, Borla true-dual exhaust and Z-tube.

These mods should add power and if I drive conservatively it should increase my mileage right? I have reset the ECU after each mod.

Does anyone have any ideas as I am starting to get pissed. Do I need to get my AF ratio modified as I have not done any professional ECU tuning?

I don't know but I am only getting about 15 mpg stock (I calculated it after several tanks). I hoping it gets better with time, I have 2200 miles on it now.

 

Sounds normal to me, I'm getting worse than that even in my Maxima. You always have to look for the simple answers... leadfoot and A/C plus short trips and a lot of stop-and-go traffic are your gas mileage's worst enemies. Why so many people complain about it is beyond me, I couldn't care less about mine, I didn't buy a sports coupe to get 30mpg.

 

My G's mileage has gotten worse of late. I've had it since October of 2003 and was getting between 19-20 MPG for the first year or so. Since around this January, my mileage has declined to around 17 MPG. I thought it might have been due to my winter tires starting to wear a little bit, but switching over to summer tires did not change the mileage at all. Good thing I drive considerably less than I used to (new, much closer work location) so it's not hurting the wallet too bad.

 

i would be so lucky if i can get 17...right now i am barely getting 13mpg, don't worry your mileage is normal

 

16-20 mpg is normal for the G. if you need 20- 22 mpg keep light foot if you can between 2200- 2800 rpm.

 

ive gotten up to 27 mpg on freeway, and i average about 19-20 going local. turning off a/c and cruise control are both good ways to increase fuel economy.

oh yeah i have an 04 6mt with popcharger, ztube and kinetix plenum.

 

so what about MPG's we have a sexy looking car that loves to drink '93 gas if it bothers you that bad then get a honda civic.

 

The gas mileage is inversely proportionate to the pressure from the right foot.

 

i average around 12-13mpg normally. between lights and stop signs, i'm lucky if i go more than 2 blocks before i need to stop again, and i don't do much highway driving, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

i also have a bad case of leadfoot disorder. after owning the car for almost a year now, the novelty of dropping the hammer and listening to my intake and exhaust roar like a beast just never gets old (especially in tunnels!). it still brings a smile to my face every time

and, with gas prices ~$2.53 per gallon for 93 octane here, she's costing me about $50-70 in gas a week.

 

Sounds about right. No play and steady speed limit and you can knock off about 26-28, but that's no fun.

So...
You spent 35-37K on the G, and probably 1-3K more for mods +/- installation, and now you're worried about 17-18 MPG vs. say 20-22 MPG?
It sounds like you can easily get your G to 20MPG, but why and at what cost?
You'd have to totally eliminate all the "fun" aspects of driving the G just to save maybe $5 dollars everytime you fill up with gas.
If you're willing to futz around in your car just to save some spare change at the pump, why even get a G when there are plenty of Civics and Accords that will get way better gas milage.
You paid for a high performance sport coupe, don't you want to use it?

 

SI_G35 Coupe : 93 Octane Gas? Is that really necessary? Super Unleaded here is 91 Octane. Please elaborate if possible.

 

qmaster8: You are probably experiencing the effects of more dense air in the winter and winter gas (oxygenated) which both contribute to lower gas mileage. I don't think it is your mods. See if the mileage improves as your state transitions out of winter gas to the better summer gas.
