Not sure I can really help you but more give advice. I'd learn on the crappiest car you can get your hands on. I learned on a 1983 Nissan Sentra. Clutch was so hard to press and even the slightest mistake in shifting you'd stall. I then went to the BMW that I had bought and it was a piece of cake. Reason to learn on this is you dont have any fear of messing up the car and once you learn on this, driving the G will be like a dream when shifting.

You picked a tough car to learn stick on. The G's manual and clutch are pretty bad.

Just remember two things when learning:

Ease off the clutch as you ease on the gas.

That's all there is to it.

Engage clutch slowly and gently. Take your time.
If in doubt you messed up a shift, clutch-in.

The 05's I hear have lighter clutch feel so it should
be a lot easier than learning on a 04'.

I wouldn't say the G35's clutch and tranny are bad...just different. It's direct linkage and unless you're coming out of this setup, it will take some time to adapt. The clutch does engage pretty high, but you can get use to that. I love the tranny and shifter, but the clutch could be a little smoother.

Its easy just goto a big empty parking lot and practice going from stop -> first gear without using gas and slowly gas-it. Just have to find that "point" of engagment.

Good luck.

try this. dont use the gas. just ease off the clutch very slowly until the car starts to move. ( in an empty parking lot). once you do that stop the car and do it a couple more times so you get aquainted with the clutch . its easier when you dont have to worry about two things at once(gas and clutch pedals). after that ease off the clutch just as before and give it some gas just as slowly as you released the clutch. you'll have it down pact in two hours the most.

I went from a Prelude to the G (both manual) and yeah I made the G stall like 2 or 3 times even though I've driven MT all my life. Its hard at the beginning, especially if you come from driving underpowered cars, but Ull get the hang of it... just start releasing the clutch slower untill you learn the threshold of where the car starts moving.

kyosho, i bought my 04 used for 26 grand and the dealer is giving me 24 for it so it isnt that bad of a hit, but thanks you guys so much for the help but after a little trip to the dealer today i decided to go with the automatic for a few reasons, i figured it would be my best option, i picked up an 05 athens blue coupe with premium, nav, sport tuned suspension, armor glove, aero kit, body side moldings, trunk mat, splash guards for right around 40,, the 6mt i was going to get only had premium, aero kit and sport-tuned suspension, the dealer only had 1 in stock, and it was white, my least favortie color. but thank you again guys for the help.
