I am not an expert, but I have read a lot on this subject and am waiting for my Z tube as well. On the AC this is my understanding:

1. The Z Tube can get really hot and if you are not careful it can rub up against your AC line which is right beside it and made of aluminum. Eventually this could wear a hole in your AC line.

2. There is a mounting bracket/bolt for the Z Tube on the left side and you can twist this a bit to keep the Z Tube as far away as possible from the AC line.

3. Some people are going the extra step and putting a piece of insulating rubber or whatever on a portion of the AC line...just in case.

4. There are pictures of this and a more complete description of the issue on this board. Do another search if necessary because it is definately here and in much better description than mine.

venom , here are some picsI took of mine that will explain:
-one of the Z-Tube and the 05 G-Tube.
-one of the installed Z-Tube.
-one showing the AC line that people have said could be a problem, but it really isn't a problem cause you just make sure the screw and bracket on the tube clamp is rotated so it is not touching the AC line.

I think this info has been misconstrued over time.
There should be no issues with the a/c lines when
a Z tube is installed properly.

a/c line issues mainly apply to aftermarket CAI systems which have a different shape & path.

GEE35X's pics show a proper install.

Also, make sure you reconnect the 3/4 line so that there is no kink in it.

I just installed my UT polished Z-tube last week. It has plenty of clearance between it and the AC lines.

When using the Z tube only with your stock intake box, there is no issues with the A/C line. Those that had problems were using the Z-tube in conjunction with a POP Charger or some other non-stock air intake box. I have the Z-tube only with a K&N air filter... there is no rubbing of the tube on the A/C line. It was rubbing that caused a hole to be worn into the A/C line, not heat.

I agree have had the z tube for awhile now and no problems. Am looking to sell my z-tube and K&N panel filter at end of this week as am getting a new intake, both are in great condition. Loved z tube and K&N just getting deal I can't refuse for a Injen CAI. Looking to get $85 plus shipping. PM me if interested. Can take paypal.

I've had my Z-tube now for about two weeks (loving every minute of it), I actually had mine installed by the Infiniti dealership, they installed the tube clamp on reverse
(backwards) so the bracket/tighten screw was facing on the opposite side of the ac line, more towards the oil dip stick.

The Z tube is a special type of a mod that doesnt really do anything or give you big hp, maybe 3hp extra and you make hear a bulkier noise at higher rpm's. Yes I dyno test it. When you install it and test your car the car may seem a lot more responsive but part of it is in your heavier intended foot. One thing that Z tube gives is an old feeling of doing something to an engine and self gratification after. And that is a promise of a Z tube.
