question about wheel locks

Hey so is it bad to have two different sets of wheel locks on each wheel. i have already put one mcgard wheel lock on each tire and have a set of 4 gorilla wheel locks coming. i was thinking i could put those on too and give anyone who tries to steal my wheels a hard time. or would that be a bad idea. would that hurt the wheels or be a safety issue. i know it looks weird with all different kinds of lugnuts on the tires but i dont mind that for extra piece of mind.

I don't see a problem.
I've been thinking about doing the same thing.

Just keep the keys handy.

That's what I have on my wheels. It shouldn't be a problem. It may even make it more difficult to steal them.

Good idea, but as usual, lost keys can be a big hassle. Keep 'em handy

Wheel locks can't hurt but believe me, if a thief wants to get your wheels, it's not hard, even with wheel locks. A valet stole my key on my Acura out of the glove (I should have used the valet key grrrr) and I had a flat. The service mgr at discount put a socket on there, ruined the lock, but it came right off. Best thing you can do is get an alarm that has a tilt sensor for the wheels. My Viper alarm has this. You can set the sensor to trigger the alarm based on grade. And if your alarm has the 2 way pager you'll get paged when the alarm goes off.

Yeah two sets will be more of a deterent than one,but so will three be better than two. Where does it end?
After taking some reasonable precautions insurance has to take over. I guess it's tougher for some living in bigger cities where crime is more prevalent.

I don't know which model I have, it's the Viper with the remote start and 2 way pager. It didn't come with the sensor from Directed, I had to order it seperate. The installer recommended it due to so many people ripping off rims. Even if they use bricks, it'll set off the alarm.

yeah you can order the tilt sensor from www.autotoys.com for like under $15. And if you alarm doesn't have any aux-in triggers, you can add it to your shock sensor connections. You just won't be able to tell if the shock sensor set off the alarm or the tilt sensor because the alarm brain will only see them as one input - but either way it will set off the alarm. As far as multiple locks per wheel...waist of time (and $ if you're buying them). If one lock doesn't stop them, then 2 isn't going to either.

As wheel locks go, you can buy a craftsman universal lug remover. It has little pegs that move in & out to fit any key lug.

So its not really going to slow the pros down.
