Flywheel Chatter

Ive got an 04 coupe 6mt. Is it me or is the flywheel pretty loud on this car? It seems to chatter when im not in gear and clutch is engaged. as soon as clutch is engaged noise stops. Also when I turn the car off I can def hear it chatter...is this normal? I've been told that this is because the flywheel is actually somewhat light on the car. anyone else experience this? or am I just flipping out?

The same thing happens to my late 03. When you are in neutral you can hear the flywheel spinning? High pitched sort of sound? Yeah i have the same problem. I know nothing is wrong with the whole cluth because it operates completely normal. I guess i am gonna have to put up with it till I get my new clutch.

It's funny but mine seemd to have a slight shudder for the first 500m or so but now it works great and no major noises. I now only have about 5k on it though. Ican hear something when in neutral versus when clutch is depressed but it's not significant at this point.

I think all G 6mt's have chatter - everyone with an '05 seems to have commented on it. You get used to it and it becomes a fun part of driving the car.

Yeah I have the chatter as well. And it annoys me to hell. But I just try to ignore it when possible.

My '03 did that too. Washing machine noise on spin cycle when in neutral with the clutch out - goes away when you push the clutch in and put it in a gear. Classic throwout bearing noise symptoms. My dealer replaced the whole tranny and clutch, which completely got rid of the noise, but replaced it with severe clutch chatter and shuddering when releasing the clutch from a stop. I would rather have the washing machine noise.
