Alignment problem and tire feathering
does G35 have the same problems of "pulling hard to right" and "tire feathering" that occurs on 350Z? heard the news of 350z owners filing a class action law suit again Nissan.
was thinking getting a 350z, guess i can throw that idea out of the window.

Some G35 owner's have also reported feathering, though just a few. Problem is, this boards search engine cannot go back and let you find post's from when the board was first started.
No other subject has been more discussed on the 350Z then tire feathering. And no other subject is more controversial. Ride quality issues with 2003 cars, bounce and porposing is another well discussed topic, which IMO is related to the cause of the feathering on 2003 Z's. You really have your work cut out for you just to sift through a avalanche of post's to try and filter down to the facts. Their are MANY different theories as to the cause of the feathering on the 350Z. 2003 car Z's are the worst offenders. But 2004 owners have also reported the problem, keeping in mind that part way into 2004 production Nissan revised the suspenson. Some 2004 Z's have 2003 suspensions.

I have a, '03 6MT. Inside of front tires (Pilot Sports) feathered and (in my situation) obviously cupped at around 12,000 miles. Had an alignment done and, at the same time, had the tires dismounted from the wheels and swapped left-to-right. Relative to the cupping, tires appear to have gotten no worse since the alignment/rotation.
No pulling problems at all.

G35 Coupe same exact cupping problem
I see everyone saying go get a G35, but mine has the cupping and road roar at 7000 miles. The dealer says, oh yeah, we'll replace the tires for 700+. The Michelin Pilots on 18's are nice tires, and I've read the same issue occurs on the Potenza from B.
Anyways I called Infiniti consumer relations and bitched at them for an hour, because the road roar under breaking is like the world is coming to an end. Dealer says cupping and alignment with a wheel balance. From what I have seen in the Nissan TSB for the 350Z, there should be some restitution involved for the cost of the tire and an additional warranty.
I ended up talking to the regional supervisor troll that called the dealer and they offered a free alignment. I told them I'm going to prove this with an alignment report that says it's dead on target to start. They said tough luck this isn't a 350Z. I finally got them to have the staff level in manufacturing call me in the next several days.
I've seen others with the same problem so please email and let me know what dealership your 35 is from. (fluxemag@yahoo.com). I plan to sell the car with new tires courtesy of Nissan. This was the ninth Nissan since 1990 and will be the last if they don't follow the same procedure as the 350Z.
Too bad really, this is a sweet car, I can understand those who will suffer through the tire wear.
