Congratulations on your purchase. You'll probably meet a lot of new owners with the same comments about the clutch, especially 1st to 2nd. I hadn't driven a manual regularly for about 4 years so I assumed it was user error, but I did notice everyone that drove mine made some type of comment. I also noticed a lot of odd noise coming from the clutch right after I got it. Did some searches and found its common, goes away after a couple hundred miles.
And no, it wasn't from me driving poorly

minor problems such as window regulator, weather seals fallin off, rough idling... the main thing was the coil pack went bad 4 times...everything is under warranty til 50,000 but it had bout 41000 now and i wasnt gonna pay for every single repair once it runs out of warranty... i loved the car but those little problems were a pain in the a$$...
hopefully, i wont burn the clutch too much trying to get used to it.. what does a burned clutch smell like by the way? i had this weak werid smell when i was doing many stop and go routines in the parking lot...

Thats just all the plastic and crap on the engine melting or burning off or whatever. I thought for a second I had burned up the clutch, but it does makes all the cars in your garage smell new!
You've driven all those different kinds of cars and you've never smelled a clutch? You must have either been a quick learner or they were automatics. You will know the smell, its a combination of burnt rubber and ***. When i was first learning to drive I threw my escort into first while still going backwards (my dad thought I might as well learn on a car from a dealer) and smoked the clutch that thing stunk for about 5 minutes. It will go away with the interior new car smell.
