Speed Channel is running a PR piece for Pontiac June 12 (Sunday) which stages the GTO against the G35 Cpe (298hp) vs 330ci vs Mustang GT.

While a PR stunt, the event is officially sanctioned and will use the same drivers for all 4 vehicles, so a decently fair competition will be had (less the promo $'s GM is putting towards the event!)

Obviously the GTO is going to mash the competition, but it should be interesting to see:

1) ...Real world performance numbers on the new 298 hp G35 Cpe (noone on the forum seems to know if it's faster or not (more hp / less torque).

2) ...The G35 most likely spanking the 330ci in all areas (I'd love to quiet the BMW forums..."330ci HP is underrated" ..."Nissan engines are overrated" ..."330ci has better handling" ...blah blah blah).

3) The 298 hp G35 vs the new 300 hp Mustang. I'm guessing the 'Stang will edge it out in acceleration but that it'll fall apart on the track.

Here's a quick write-up I found:

Hold onto your remote and buckle up. The new 400-hp Pontiac GTO and 303-hp Grand Prix GXP will test their race-proven V8 power against the world's best known names in an exclusive Speed Channel Event, conducted by Pro Formance and certified by the Sports Car Club of America.

The same track. The same drivers. The same tests. The results may surprise you as much as the competition.

Tune in on Sunday, June 12 after Watkins Glen.
And check back here to view the results and video

I'll call it like this:

Acceleration:
GTO
Mustang (massive torque)
G35C
330Ci

Handling:
G35
330Ci
Mustang
GTO (3800+ lb)

Braking:
G35
330Ci
Mustang
GTO

Best All Around:
G35

Is the 330Ci a ZHP model?

Don't you love how they need a friggen 6.0l engine to put out 400hp? That's getting pretty close to doubling the size of our engine. Crazy...

I wish the M3 was in the challenge instead of a 330i.

I dont think the G35c will be best all around... after all its a pontiac sponsored event so its a no brainer the GTO will be best all round.

And some please find a way to post this for ppl who wont be able to watch this event. Once it is aired I will look for websites where you can download this. A bunch of bit torrent websites will carry it.
