I read a lot of comments from the M3 and 350Z boards on the video. The Skyline(G35) and 350Z are very well matched. Despite the slight weight advantage, the Z still has a loose rear end that kept it lagging coming out of the corners. The M3 guys were of course happy it won and it should have. They were comparing 2 low 14-second cars to a mid-low 13-second car. The M3 only needed a little room to use its power advantage. The important thing was that the M3 could neither brake or corner better. The only advantage it had was on the straights. A G35 6-sp is about $35000 with the Premium Package. To get basically the same in an M3, it will cost about $52000(base plus metallic paint, nappa leather, premium pkg, cold weather pkg and Harmon Kardon stereo upgrade). The G35 was made to compete with the 330Ci with more power, more room, better brakes and a better price. I am sure they didn't use a 330Ci because both of the Nissans would have obviously beat it badly. They were comparing it to the M3 which is a step up, but surprisingly it was very close. Considering that the G35 is only 2/3's the cost of the M3, it is a bargain by comparison. Also that there will soon be 2 turbo kits and 2 SC kits available and you could easily upgrade to larger wheels and tires, you could easily have a car that could walk the M3 on the track still for several thousands less. Just to get a lower 330Ci model comparibly equiped will cost over $42K(about the same as the G35 with the big power adder and larger rubber) and a limited slip differential is even an option.
