Re: Heat Shield on Rear Bumber
Hmmm.. Maybe it's to keep exhaust heat from the dual inverted mufflers from warping the plastic bumper. I would get the dealer to put it back on right way if that is it. No melting plastic for you! Peace.

Hmm, I thought that was some sort of packaging that they forgot to take off. Looks like a big long strip of tape? That stuff was dangling off my G within a couple weeks after delivery. I just peeled it off and chucked it. There's no way in hell the adhesive they used was going to hold that on for years to come if that's what they intended.

Re: Heat Shield on Rear Bumber
just had my car on the lift for first oil change. looked in back per your post. about mid way up the bumper on the inside there's a squarish brick of what feels like foam. it is covered in foil. it is about 2"x2" by about 8" long. it appears to be a guard for something in front of it altho there's a space of maybe 3 or 4 inches. it appears to be glued to the bumper cover. it is slightly above the license plate lites from what I could judge. I don't get what it's for but then again, I don't know why there are 32 screws holding in the oil floorplan to get to the filter.
