Are 6MT's in limited production ?

Dealers in DFW area are telling me is hard to get 6MT's due to limited production .... They are quoting autos at invoice, but want list for 6MT's...
Is this what you have heard in your area ?? sounds like BS to me ...

If I am to believe what we've been told, there were some production issues on at least some combinations of options or color/interior choices.

My wife ordered her 05 CPE 6MT in Laser Red with Graphite interior and every option on January 27th... Price = Invoice + $500. The last time we talked to the Dealer was about a month ago and they indicated that they were hoping for the end of May or early June. It will be seventeen weeks wait as of this Thursday (5/26.)

The Invoice + $500 Price was either for a Sedan or a Coupe - no difference.

As an aside, after nearly 40 years of marriage to the same woman, how did I not know that the delay in her car getting here would be my fault?

^holy cow, I got the exact options I wanted, fully loaded Black/black and it took a week and got it for the same price as yours........I would be pretty pissed if i were you. I got mine the day b4 my birthday, January 26 2005.

DFW~I guess every car is limited but I don't think it is a low production #, they are just trying to doop you into paying MSRP.

05 6MT coupes were limited when they first came out due to production delays, but that was 5 months ago. I don't see why they would be limited now, I've read that generally about 10-15% of total production are manuals.

You went to crest or sewell didn't you. Head over to grubbs. They'll sell you one for about $500 over invoice.

Yes this is also what I have been told. I was lucky to get my 6mt due to it having hail damage and is being repaired by the dealer. I got it for 29,500 which is 500 under invoice. It's a black/black 2005 G35 Sedan 6mt, with sunroof. The dealer has several others as well if your willing to wait for a hail damaged car to be fixed like new.

Its not due to limited production its due to it being so popular thats all. You can always buy one and get it straight from the. factory

Its just a marketing strategy to say "its hard to get one your way, so we'll charge as much as we want".

As a recent 05 buyer, they told me the same thing to start with. I then told them I found a dealer that was willing to sell for 500 over invoice, but that it was 3 hours drive away... So I said to the dealer "500 over invoice plus 500 in trip cost for fuel/hotel = 1k over invoice. If you give me a reason to stay, I'll stay as I rather buy the car from a dealer I already know." And thats how I got it reduced =D.

They did tell me that 20% I think, was the amount of MTs produced. Most people get AT so MT is harder to find yes, but then again, "less popular" gives you the advantage as a "rare" buyer.

Also, a good negociation tip... When you 1st walk in dealership and start talkin numbers, add 1 or 2 extras (I told them front and back aero) that you DONT want. Negociate the price for it, and then when you cant go lower, tell them "ok so how about if we drop the front aero bumper and spoiler?"

So you got yours seven weeks after you ordered it? Do you believe that the order was placed and the car built specifically for you or do you believe that your local dealer was able to locate one that met your requirements at either another dealer or arriving at a Port-of-Entry?

My wife's order is for a Laser Red with Graphite interior, Premium Pkg, Navi, Body Side Moulding, XM Radio, Aero Body Kit w/Rear Spoiler, Trunk Mat. Price = Invoice + $500 .... again, order placed 1/27/05.

When we ordered we were asked if they (the dealership) should search other dealer inventories and we answered, "No." We are pretty patient folks and did not want the dealer to possibly install options that are normally or at least frequently installed by the factory.

With hindsight, we may have erred.
