Dilemma: 6MT G35 coupe
I will be purchasing a G35 and will be needing it by the end of september.
However,I will be going overseas in july and coming back by the end of september.
The question is, should i wait till the end of september and then only get the car(save on insurance, warranty and less risk of getting vandalized/stolen while i'm away)? Will the 2006 lineup be announced around that time? When were the 2004/2005 lineups announced?
I'm worried that there might not be a G35 6MT coupe to my liking in the dealers inventory by the time i get back. Is it possible to special order a G35 with specific packages from a dealer. Sorry if i sound ignorant, I'm new to the country.
thanks

I think you can start to order the 06 model in early june. It will prob take a few months to build anyway. I would just go talk to you dealer, get the car you want and they will have it ready when you get back

Honestly you should wait till you get back, why pay for insurance on a car you can not enjoy that much, also by the time you get back you may get a better deal for the 05. As for the 06 i talked with my dealer and 06 models will not be out till late october. And if you want the 06 i wait to see what changes were made and if there are nothing new then get an 05 for much lesser.
It's common belief that any changes for the '06 will be extremely minor convenience options... ...such as the intelligent key deal. I doubt you'll even see another change in wheels, let alone any cosmetic changes. If anything, you'd benefit from small production improvements, as is common from year to year.
If I was looking at that long of a wait anyway, I'd definately get an order in for an early '06. And I definately wouldn't want to have it sitting at home (being my responsibility when I can't watch over it) for long.
The only reason I ordered an '05 is because an '06 would mean an additional 4-6 month wait for me... ...without a second car for the family. Just can't do it. Besides, I've got parts just waiting to be installed as soon as I take delivery.

I was just at the dealer today and he told me the 2006's will probably start showing up in october. I am trading my 2004 coupe 5AT for a 6MT coupe. I would wait for the 2006's to come in. That way the dealers will have high inventory and will more likely be open to negotiations.
