Question Stock Air Intake Tube Inner Diameter vs. Z Tube Inner Diameter

Does anyone with the Z Tube know if there is a difference between the inner diameter of the stock tube versus the Z tube? I did a search because I thought this was covered somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I am thinking the Z Tube is slightly larger in diameter for increased air flow.

99% sure that the Z-tube is same diameter...that is why it's a dirrect fit. If the diameter was different you would have to use adapters and stuff (which you don't). The z-tube simply takes out the resonator and makes the flow of air smoother allowing better flow.

Does anyone know if you can just "gut" the stock tube and achieve the same results? Remove the resonator(s) and put aluminum tape or something over the holes that lead into the reservoirs below the air filter and midway of the tube. I am trying to avoid losing the par tof the stock tube that belnds it in with the plastic engine cover. I like stealth mods!
