Sirius radio install and a 'what is it' picture

So the techs popped in the sat radio last week, and if you saw my other thread - it sounds like cr@p. FM sounds better, and my MP3 128k cd's (which is what sat radio theoretically is supposed to sound like) blow it away.

But I have an appt for them to look at it, bill infiniti crazy money, and tell me NPF. So to end game it, I'd like to know if any of you have the docs for installing the factory sat sirius radio. I have chunks of the service manual, but it must be too old because the audio section doesn't cover it. Thanks in advance for that.

On the other topic, While taking off all mats etc to check the work in the trunk I found what looks like a place to put something - although that something isn't there. If you were to look where your tools and jack are, you'll notice that everything is in a neat little cubby designed just for it. But in my car, there is a cubby with nothing in it. See pic below. Whatsit for? BTW the cubby I mention is just up and left of center, above silver rod and right of tire. Looks like a PDA stand when you look in the trunk.

Thanks!
Peet

Well.. I have Sirius that I installed myself; I'm not sure what they could have done that would make it sound bad; it either would work or wouldn't work... The sound quality is better than FM without question, but its actually not as good as a Good quality 128bit mp3. On that note if you have a good mp3 you shouldn't be able to tell the difference from a CD...

Here's what I went through...
1. When I first got it I didn't like the quality, but I managed to make it sound better when I adjusted the bass and treble... I found I had to max out the treble /shurg
2. You have to live with the fact that its never going to quite as good as a good mp3 or CD.
3. After about 2 weeks I got used to the sound, and I enjoy it now... I definitely think it’s much better than FM...

As for your trunk I don't think anything goes there, but I'm not 100% sure; I'd have to look again at mine.
