Possible 7-19 Bay Area Meet
Re: Possible 7-19 Bay Area Meet
I'm probably going to LA, so I don't think I can make it. Aside from that, I just got my tranny replaced last weekend so the drive would be a little to abusive. =)
But the park i'm referring to is right before the hiking trail to the lake (20 min drive from bottom of the mountain if you don't get stuck behind a ford focus).
If you want to pay $4 for parking and check it out, it only cost about $150 to rent part of the park (there's a scary house and BBQ pits and stuff), but the noise permits cost another hundred or so.

Had planned on attending, but recently received notice that the Marin County Sheriff is holding a big picnic for all those in their several volunteer programs. Since I participate in their RACES programs as an Amateur Radio Operator, I'll be attending that event. Your planned drive sounds great, perhaps I can make the next one.

Re: Possible 7-19 Bay Area Meet
So how big is this meet going to be? It seems replies have staggered off....I'm just guaging whether the ~150 mile one-way drive is worth it....
About the maximas, it would be nice to have some maxima.org people there, but they like a couple of weeks notice for their meets.

Re: Possible 7-19 Bay Area Meet
So lets say you get 10+ cars, what are we all going to do? Just drive? It is a saturday, I hope you plan on doing the speed limit or below. Lots of cars, lots of bikers (cycle and other). I'm not trying to say anything bad about this meet, but I don't see any meat to this meet. After the 50 mile drive at around 45mph, where will we go? Are we going to sit somewhere, eat our own food, and talk about the G? I guess I've grown tired of all my previous Maxima meets...but I was hoping to drive to the bay again....decisions....
Oh yeah, and you never did post exactly where you want us to meet, I can't even find an adress to plug into mapquest to see how far the drive is.

Wow talk about a panaromic view!!
I would like to thank dyenboy for putting the event on. Although I didn't go on the run today it was great meeting everyone and putting some faces to screen names.
Its summer time and we have a couple more events coming up. Zfest.org in August 2nd, and we will have a dynoshootout next weekand for the 350Z's but I'm sure people will love to watch I'll let you know the details!

Backroads through Livermroe were definitely awesome. I would say they were a lot better than the ride up Mt. Hamilton. Lots of curvy roads without the near-death, sharp u-turns.

No kidding bout the "near-death sharp u-turns", just seems it would never end... i am still shaking from them, i think i might need new leather for my steering wheel...hehehe, the back side was better, but some how the sign says "one lane next 19 miles" was lil disconcerning, hope whoever was behind me, didnt get too many rock chips.
it was very nice to meet everyone and thanks Don put the meet togather, and do hope everyone got home alright, hope see you all next time...s.w.
BTW...when we do meet next time, please dont be offended if i dont remember your name.
