dropped a socket while installing ztube

hey guys. while installing my k&n filter and ztube, i accidently dropped a socket and it fell right at the top right corner of the air filter box. it didnt fall through to the floor and i cant locate it with a flashlight either. my question is, will the socket eventually fall out on its own when i'm driving or do i need to worry about this and locate it before i drive? Thanks.

That's why I always have a telescoping automotive mirror and magnet handy. Good luck fishing it out.

does the box lead to the engine? If so I'd take everything apart and get it out. Nothing like a socket in your engine to mess up your day

If it doesn't lead to moving components then I wouldn't worry about it

I don't think it leads to the engine. If you face the car from the front, it fell to the right of the airbox (the area on top of the right wheel). I don't know what's down there

Could it be in the fender liner?

ok i got that sucker out. I don't even know how to describe the place it landed but it was only about 8-10 inches down. It was in a really tight spot and I took out the airbox and was able to get it out.

You'll have to take off the fender liner if you don't want to lose the socket.
Fairly easy job. Take the wheel off first then release the plastic mounting pins under the liner.
