This is what the Brembo brakes look like on 18" wheels. If the '04 is an automatic with the regular unpainted calipers, your salesman is full of it. Pictured are the same wheels/tires you get with the Performance Tire and Wheel Package, but you won't get the Brembos since it's an auto. The 18" aren't standard in either 04 or 05, the standard wheels are 17". The 18" ARE the Performance Tire and Wheel Package in both 04 and 05, so there will be no difference whether you get the 04 or 05 (assuming both cars you're looking at come with the same 18"). Let me know if I confused you even more

Got it. I may have failed to say that the 04 deal comes with the tire package and 05 does not, just the standard 17's. Decisions, Decisions, still leaning toward the 05 unless they take off another $1000 off the 04 (and I get a good trade.)

Thanks,
Manny

Dude, get the 04. the difference in the interior is not that important or that different for that matter. the navigation on the other hand, makes a huge difference, it completes the car, it looks cool and it's a fun toy. Trust me, if you get the 05 you'll regret that you didn't get the navi.

Another thing to note is that the 04 with performance comes with limited slip differential, whereas the 05 with 17s does not.

I went with a leftover 04 as well.. At times I regret it every time I see that nice 05 Interior centerpiece, but I think of the few thousand dollars I saved and its all better

Guys i guess im beating a dead horse and hope i dont offend anybody

2004 auto/manual 260/260

2005 auto 280/270

anyways about the brakes with the 2005 (unknown if the same with 2005 standard vs performance) however they upgraded the brakes and many posts have stated the performance is = to the brembos however they will fade with track use (unlike the brembos). for street use they are good and wont cost a fortune to replace when the soft composition wears.

Tires/rims

the 18's will get you slightly better performance numbers (and gas milage ?) , cheaper then the 250-300 ea 19's and you can also get allseason tires for 18" rims. I love my 19's but would have been better off with an 18" all season tire due to my area. And yes i know i can get winter tires/rims, I just cant justify their purchase given the low miles i put on my G.

let us know how you make out !

ppp

dude please get the 05, the instrument cluster looks so much cooler, the dash looks so much better, you can always buy someone's sport wheels later on down the road if you dont want the 17's. Navi is a nice thing to have, but the nicer interior strongly offsets the lack of navi, and also the car is a year newer, resale will be better and people will want to buy the car with the nicer interior. (No offense to the 03 and 04 guys)

best of luck

The 05 auto has downshift rev-matching too...pretty nifty. I would definately want this if I was getting an auto.

Dont get the 17"s. They look horrible in my opinion, I hate mine every time I see them. I bought 18" OEM rims and I cant wait to put them on.

Just came back from dealer in Fla. Looking at auto 2005 coupe with premium package at $250 over invoice vs auto 2004 coupe with navigation, premium package, performance tire and wheel and 2.9% financing at $1550 under invoice. Is this a good deal for either model year or should discount be greater? The 2004 which has lower horsepower feels like it accelerates better. Anyone else experience this? Any thoughts on the differences between the 2 model years and the deal?

Manny
Its really hard to pick on this one, from financial stand point, the 04s look better right now, low rate, bigger discount, but in the long run it will have lower resale value than 05s, from the "fun" factor? seems the 04s has more toys, 18s and Navi, but not like you cant get one with Navi on 05s or add one later one they both have same HP/TQ, 05's interior looks better (one of bigger reason i traded 03 for 05s )and it have REV mtach when down shifting ...now see if you can get the dealer to do samiliar deal on the 05's? either with 2.9 or lower the price...but either way, I'd would go with 05s.

^^ what he said, i was in the same boat as you about 2 months ago. stressing wheather to get an 04 fully loaded or 05 just premium. 04 save me tons of money and more features but at the end i still chose the 05, not because the 04 isnt great. its because if im going to spend 30+ g on a freaken car, i want myself a new one. and at lease i can say i got a new car(05) instead of i got a new car but its an 04 lol. nothing beats driving a fresh new car off the lot , btw i got my 05 at without navi and i still love it, mapquest all the way lol
