Wrx...

Should a stock WRX be able to keep up with against a G35 6mt on a 5-70mph roll?

Why? 'Cause it just happened to me today. It was about dead even up until 3rd gear when I started pulling a little.

No flames please. Thanks. ;D

actually from a roll, they should be bait. from a dig, its really close, but after 60 you pull pretty hard. if it was an Sti then different story.

I agree...from a roll he shouldnt have had a chance unless he was modded. My roomate has a 04 WRX with bolt ons and a UTEC and it still doesnt feel quick.

My friend has a stock 04 WRX and from a roll there is no way he should have gotten ahead of you. My friend and I have raced before. I have a 5AT, and he is obvioulsy manual. He launched better than be by 1/2 car length, but once we hit 40-50 I pulled ahead.

He said it was stock.. but who knows. I did bog out since I wasn't planning on pushing it until the last second and I jacked everything up. Lol. I also had a friend with me in the car so thats another 160lbs.

"there is no replacement for displacement". after 60, stock wrx has little chance.

with a passenger or not, you should have not just walked him, but like ran by him. unless he was modded. those cars can be fast. however, if theyre modded you can tell, they are VERY loud. so im assuming he wasnt. What gear were you in when you went from 5mph. from 2nd that makes sense. should have been in 1st.

a stock wrx should be able to keep up with you easily. after about 70~80mph you ought to be able to leave it.

the modification level of a wrx is very hard to judge... my previous car was a wrx. it looked 100% bone stock but was pushing well over 300hp at the crank (+80whp over stock dyno verified). i even had a full 3" exhaust on the car that looked stock unless you crawled under the car.

The WRX guy rev'd it. Didn't sound stock.. There was another G35 at the line with us, but he was auto.

As I said before, I have raced a 04 stock WRX, and it was relativly even due to my 5AT and his manual/AWD launch. From a roll you should pull pretty hard, but from a stand-still it would take you a while to pull ahead.

If it were truly "stock", then NO, you should of walked away from the WRX. However, myself being a previous WRX owner (2002), it is very hard to tell if it was truly stock...too many hidden goodies to go on that car
