My Car Slow?

Hey guys, I'm worried that my 05 Coupe is slower than it's supposed to be. It doesn't really feel too quick in 2nd gear and just now I floored it up to 4000 rpms and I barely beat out a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse!!!

Any thoughts?

Thanks

You have to rev 4k and up before the vq35 really starts making power. So Im sure your car is fine.

Is that the turbo all wheel drive version? if so i had an encounter one afternoon with one....I shut it down before we went anything over 70-80mph..i was in front by 1-2 car lengths and he was catching up slowly as i rowed through the gears...fast little thing...

4000 rpms? Push your car a little more man. Don't be afraid.

4k....I shift normally at 3500. After 4k is where the fun starts...

it has 1600 miles on it and I just got an oil change....I've noticed in 3rd and 4th gears this car is pretty quick...My brothers 03 Coupe just seems faster in the 1st and 2nd gears...maybe it's the torque?? maybe the 05 has more power at higher rpm's? thanks guys

Try an ECU reset (found in our FAQ/DIY forum). You may have babied it too much and it needs to be 'retrained'.

Is your car a 6MT or the 5AT? If it's the 6, it takes a little bit of experience to launch properly and really feel this car get out of the hole. And, as others have said in this thread, this car really starts to pull AFTER you hit 4000 RPM. You'll be amazed how much quicker you go from 3800 to 7000 compared to getting from 0800 to 3800 on the tachometer.

Wow, your car didn't ace an Eclipse. You should sell it immediately.

With my new flywheel, 4000 to redline comes much much more quicker now.
