Flat tire after 1400 miles...

On top of my other scare with the clutch, I just got a flat tire driving home from work tonight in the pouring rain. I think that I am really down on my luck these days. A nail got wedged into the tire that is just big enough to not be able to plug. I guess I need two new tires...

Any suggestions on getting a good deal on 2 new tires? Should I beg Infiniti to help me out?

Just had a hole patched (instead of plugged) and it worked great. Are you sure it's too big? Maybe you oughta pull the wheel and take it in and let the tire guys look at it.

How is the tread? Aside from the hole I mean...

Why 2 new tires instead of just the one?

I am so glad that I purchased the tire/wheel warranty when I bought my G. I have less than 5k on my car and had both rear tires replaced so far. one had a sheetrock screw go through the sidewall and the other had a large puncture in the tread area that could not be safely repaired. While I had to pay out of pocket for the replacement I submitted the invoice to the insurance company both times and they sent me a check within three weeks.

w/ only 1400mi on your tires, i think replacing only one tire and not both would suffice. not a lot of tread difference i believe.

reputable tire shop can patch up to 1/4" size hole in the treads.
if close to the sidwall or on sidewall, not possible.

yeah, im so happy i got the tire warrantee cause ive had all my tires replaced from nails and "ish" with only like 18000 miles on them. Best investment ever. And you never know, sometimes nails can "magically" end up in your tires

Perfectmax, just get one tire. The diff btw the old and new will be almost nothing.
Since the mileage is so low, ask the tire dealer about purchasing tire warranty for all your tires.
Well worth the few $$$$.
G/L with this and the clutch issue.
C.

Isn't magic a wonderful thing?

Dude I feel your pain. I just bought a new Odyssey on Monday and we got a flat on Thursday. The GF was driving it and didn't realize it was flat and now the tire is ruined. The car only can 200 mile on the ODO. To top things off the tire wasn't in stock anywhere. Turns out it's a new size and no one carries it yet.

The screw is in the sidewall of the tire. I got a price quote for $318 and am happy because everyone else, including the Infiniti dealer wanted $400 or so.

My Infiniti dealer said that they could not do anything for me. BUT, they said that they would let me purchase the warranty for only $325. I think that I am going to get the warranty and hold on to the punctured tire (wink, wink).

What all does the Infiniti warranty cover? They said that it last 5 years. My major question is: what happens when I get a hole in a tire that has not too much tread left?

Discount Tire. Cost me around $11 per wheel. Good for the life of the tire (based on treadwear rating).

Have the same warranty on my truck tires and RV tires.

They'll balance them everyday if that's what you want...

Thanks for the reply. I assume you got this at the same time you bought aftermarket tires? Go Navy.
