I have them on my current car and I have gotten a ding or two with them there. It seems like the doors of other cars (especially mini vans and SUV's) are not on the same plane as our strip so it does not seem to help much.

I am about to take delivery of a new 05 and I did not get the strips on this car. Hope this helps...

I have them on my G. They were already on the coupe when I purchased her. Since Nov. 2002, neither door has any paint chips whatsoever. I guess they're doing their job?

The factory body side molding is very inadequate for protecting the doors from SUV's. Use these cheap alternatives to avoid door dings.

the side moldings actually look pretty good on some of the darker color cars (tb, bs, lr). adds some nice lines to the body, but only when subtle. on the lighter colors they stand out too much and look cheap.

mysterious parking lot/shopping mall whatever dings are going to happen no matter what you have on your car. I personally don't care for them, but that's my opinion.

I took a chance and left them off my Coupe and was lucky (and very careful) for 2 yrs.
They do detract a little from the G's looks, but do afford marginal protection too.
If your lifestyle is 'busy' and you live in a populated area, I say get them and be safer.

You'll get visible damage of some sort even with those, if someone smacks you with their door. I park in outer Mongolia to prevent damage.
