The $110K was for a real Skyline GT-R.

Actually, the New Z was more inline with what the original Z was. A cheap(relatively) , fun, sports car with bang for your buck performance. The Z32, as much of a great car as it was, could not be marketed in the price range it was in. What the original Z was able to do was to make people desire the car while allowing a larger percentage of those that wanted to buy to actually buy it. The Z32 had plenty of fans...but most could not pay the price tag. I think if we see the New GT-R actually hit the market, that will really be the icon of what Nissan is capable of. I mean, even from a business standpoint, it makes sense. Why put so much technology into a car that noone can or will want to afford it? They can make more money by positioning the car to sell in higher volume. If someone wants to spend more money, they can choose a higher, more expensive model.

And with their new cars? Considering more than half the models they have available here are at least available with a V6, it's hardly a step back. Even the base model Altima is available with 25 more HP than the previous version's I-4. And the V6 version boasting 240HP. And considering Nissan now seems to be the one initiating the upward momentum of the HP wars in the import market, how can anyone say Nissan is taking a leap backwards? They seem to be setting the bar more often than not...
