Stillen day dyno results
Went to the Stillen day and saw a lot of nice cars. The best car of the day had to be the black 2001 Skyline GT-R. That car, with the Tomei engine block, reportedly puts out 700hp per the owner, who said that he's spent over $110K on the car so far. Crazy.
Some interesting results on the G35s and 350Zs. Most of the normally aspirated cars were pretty unimpressive on the dyno, especially the ones with numerous mods. Case in point. One guy had a G35 Coupe 6spd with plenum spacer, exhaust, intake, T-square ECU, and maybe a few other things that I'm forgetting and he only put down 245hp. That's a lot of money to spend and only get 245hp. Then another guy, actually a manager from an Infiniti dealer, brought a new 2005 G35 Coupe 6spd with an intake and Stillen exhaust and put down 260hp. I guess the 2005s are putting down more power. Moral of the story....I'm probably better off selling my 2004 and getting a 2005 and only get an intake and exhaust for it.
Most impressive dyno came from a kid with a red 300ZXTT Stage IV (very similar to my old one). He put that 13 year old car up there and embarassed us all with 401hp and 450tq. Man, Nissan has really taken a leap backwards in performance with their new cars.

Disagree, but that's just me.
I would have to AGREE...if the G/Z came TTed from the factory, we wouldnt have to hassle around with all the pointless mods...wed just throw a few lil things on there (like Evo n Sti owners do) and have a BEAST!!! right outta the box...but power isnt the only measure of a car. The G35 is an AMZING CAR compared to the old 300z's any way u look at it...except for the stock TT's...they were ahead of their time for sure.
Yes, That's were I live. I've got the Cb coupe. Lets seeeee,,,,, What do I have on there.
Injen CAI, Kinetix Plenum, TopSpeed headers, Kinetix high flow cats, Stillen Dual exhaust, UR pullies, JWT light weight flywheel, and NISMO clutch. Oh! and I have the Stillen grounding kit kit too, for all that does. And that was with the 20" Rays Genome Chrome wheels.

I don't recall seeing any of the FI 350Z/G35 putting down 400rwhp that day. Anyway, I'm just bitter because because Nissan's successor to the 300ZXTT seems to have taken a step backwards in the performance department. They could have just made things a lot better by utilizing the VG30DETT or RB26DETT motors in our cars than the VQ truck motor. Believe me, I love my G, but my bone stock 300ZXTT was faster in the 1/4mi than my modded 350Z was, and that kinda sucks (and I'm not even getting into comparing it to my 300ZX when it was modded). I'm counting the days until the 2007 GTR comes out. I'm hoping that will be my savior.

If I remember correctly, the 300ZXTT was like $40K ten years ago. (which is probably closer to $55-60K today) They were simply too expensive to sell and that's why they went away. The VQ allows the 350Z/G35 to be produced at a reasonable price. Sure, Nissan could engineer a monster VQ or throw the RB26DETT in the 350Z/G35, but it would be expensive. Personally, I'm happy that Nissan has given the consumer a reasonably priced platform that has a growing number of mod options.
It is true. The price on midrange sports cars has dropped significantly.
Back in the spring of1992, I paid 32,720 for a brand new 1993 RX-7 R1. A 300ZX TT was a bit more if I remember correctly. It is amazing to think that 13 years later, the rx-8 and the 350Z are priced less than they were.
