Scratches on wheels...

This is the second time I will need to have a rim repaired for scratches... I am so carefull and never ever hit or even come close to any curbs etc. and NO ONE ever drives my G... I still get scratches on the wheels!!! So where do you think they come from? Could it be debris from the road or something? I do drive about 70 miles round trip 3 times a week to work in Galveston and I've had things fly and hit the hood, winshield etc. even though I follow far behind any other vehicles; do you think it's possible for something to fly and hit the wheel hard enough to scratch it???

Just wondering WTF it could be... Costs $100 to have the rim repaired so I'm headed back to have that done this Saturday; I can't deal with the scratches!

i also have a scuff and hard chip mark on both my rear rims. no idea where this crap comes from, all i do is drive to work and back. i had my last car for about 3 years and the rims looked brand new with no marks. anyone else find the metal on the '05 stock rims soft? weird.

They do get hit with debris. My 18"s have a couple knicks and dings from rocks etc. I did curb my front rim early on and had that repaired. I think its inevitable that after time they will sustain damage....

Infiniti authotised shop - these guys ROCK!

The first week I had my G...
I was parked in a basebent garage in Galveston but there was some constuction going on so I had to use another spot because mine was blocked... The spot I had to use that day is always damp and there is a slight film of green alge I had to walk through to get to my G... I got in, buckled up, started engine, put foot on clutch, dropped into reverse, and was looking in the rear view to see for a clear path (ther are cement poles down ther all over) and then it happened! My foot slipeed off the clutch (slipperey from the alge) and the car, insted of stalling, backed up several feet before I stoped it; it was too late! Had already scraped one of the polls, scratched the passedger door, front fender and pulled off passenger mirror.

I was sick!!!
Called the dealer and was referred to V&V body. I took the car straight there and was treated great and they fixed the car so well, there is no way you can tell it was ever harmed... We became friends and now I visit often just to have some coffee and see what they are working on and grab some of thier business card to hand out. Several people have used them since and are very pleased...

Like I said, they ROCK!

Yes; i've been to a couple in Clear lake area, but only after I see them doing some exotic cars first... The last time I was there, there was a Viper and Diablo going throug ahead of me, but you know, this is something to consider.

I rarely use washes and do the deeds myself 99% of the time.

Thanks for the idea.

Hrmmm, that is true... I will return and take pics before and after to see if it is something there next time I go... I really hate to go to any wash, but sometimes my schedule and the weather make it hard to ride in a dirty G so I do the car wash thing.

I have the new 18" "sport" wheels and I have curb rash in a couple of places. One I did, one momma did. These are painted, how do you fix them?
