Question Is the G35C useable in the winter?

I recently bought a G35C w/ 18" wheel package and I am wondering if the car will be useable in the winter? Does the VDC and the traction control really aid in driving in the snow. This is my first FR car so I do not know what to expect in the winter . I am planning on switching my Pilot sports for some Pirelli P-Zero Nero's (M+S rated) before the first snowstorm . Does anyone have experience with these tires? Should I get some dedicated snow tires? TIA.

Its useable if theres a VERY light dusting, but I woudlnt use it if the accumulation is expected to be more than .5 inch. Usualy for the winter months I use our Nissan Altima and seldom drive the G. But i have the luxury of having a nother car I can use, I hear those tires work and I hear the blizzaks work really well too.

Please search. The topic has been discussed many times before.

Yes you'll need some hardcore snow tires like Pirelli (spelling) 210s or 240s. Blizzaks are highly rated as well. You will also likely need to find a 17in rim that can clear the brembos if you have them.

The first winter I had my car, I left it at home and drove my old car.

Last winter I bought some 17" ASA wheels and snow tires from Tirerack. Didn't have a lot of snow, but it worked just fine in the 3-4 inches we did get.

The VDC and traction control kicked in all the time. Very interesting to have just one outside brake pulsate to get it to turn in the slush.

I plan on driving mine year round. 19" S03's in the summer and 17" snows in the winter.

9k and 2 months later... I had my car back... crashed at Xmas in 04 and didnt have it back till march 05. There was a very very light covering of snow on the ground and my car spun out at about 15mph into a telephone pole... and I was goin straight! It just decided to fart on me! I wouldnt drive in the snow at all just to be safe unless you have snow tires.

I live in North Carolina. All of this "drivable in the winter" stuff is not an issue here, except for about maybe once a year, when it'll ice up for a couple of days. In that case, everything shuts down anyway, and I just stay at home.

I couldn't make it up my driveway this past winter ( with just .5 inch of snow ). It was very frustrating to drive 45 mins to get home usually it only take a bout 15. I gonna get some snow tires this winter for sure.

Ah I see! Thanks for the responses. I just did a search (I just found the search function on this site) and I got the same response also. Looks like I'll be getting snow tires (have to put this into the budget ). Can I use 235 width tires all around without upsetting the VDC or the ABS (so I will be able to rotate the tires). Another question do the base 17" wheels clear the brakes on the 18" AT model? And how much will the base 17" wheels cost me? Thanks again!

The coupe is fine in the snow as long as you have snowtires on it.
The OEM tires (Pilots) are useless even dangerous in the snow, and I'm not sure about All Season tires either.

It's not the best car in the snow but with care and the snowtires it'll get you thru.

C.
