Future G35 Coupes

This is what my dealer is telling me:
-possibly as early as '06 models, there will be a convertable
-body style change in '07
Has anyone else heard anything?

most of the time, the sale's man doesn't know sh*t about changes. I know personally because I used to work for Nissan as a sale's man. BUT, Nissan/Infiniti do have monthly publications STRICTLY for their sales people. In it they cover things as: how to be a better sales person... blah blah blah. And they do have articles about future Nissan/Infiniti products. Like, I knew from that magazine wayyyy before the remodeled Xterra came out, how it was going to look like.

HOwever, they do not tell EVERYTHING all the time. So your salesman might be feeding you B.S. or he might actually know what he's talking about. But, because Nissan/Infiniti want to keep some of their cars hush hush from the media because of the other car manufacturers. So if future models are coming out on the magazine, it means that that information is already been available to the public. So my guess is since nothing's been mentioned before, your sale's man is telling you b.s.

+1 to the idea that salesmen are not necessarily even car smart. With all due respect and kindness to the salespeople amongst us, the guy who sold me my WRX didn't know what the aluminum finned thing under the hood scoop was. ('Til I told him.)

I was told by my dealership they may have a retractable hardtop version for the coupe......when I see it, I'll believe it......
So much for what little trunk space the coupe has now.....8)

I doubt your salesman knows for sure, but he may have heard some rumours like we have.
Changes are inevitable for a model 5 or more years old, and with such a popular ride, there may indeed be a big demand for a rag-top.
So it sounds feasible to me, but I'll bet it's only rumour.

My last oil change, my service righter told me she was waiting for the convertible as well. I didn't question it, but it did make me think. BMW has convertibles, and that is one of Infiniti's targets, so it is possible I guess.

I also used to be a car sales person!

It's such a high turn over field of sales (salesman hopping from brand to brand) that the sales people don't work there long enough or feel pasionate about what their selling.

My Nissan Dealership had those books also but they started using them after I left so I didn't really get to utilize them much. +1 RUMOR

+1 on sales-staff knowledge.

While I'd also chalk it up to rumor (so far), a convertible only seems natural for the G coupe. Sure, it'll make it heavier, etc., but the bulk of those sales will be geared toward the buyer whose mainly interested in the G coupe because of looks alone...
...be they men or women.

Hmm, I thought there already was a convertible G called the Z roadster Seriously, this car is not really designed to be a convertible. It's already cramped on the smallish chassis. I'd think they would have to pretty much eliminate the backseat to make a drop-top version - at that point you have a Z roadster. It would also add a TON of weight (esp a retractable hardtop!) and really add a lot of body roll (remember the Z has strut bars).

A Targa top version might be sweet though...

Rule #1. Don't believe anything a car salesman tells you. They don't know jack, but instead of saying they don't know, they will make up something.
