Good car to race

Re: Good car to race
That's some very impressive company the G35 keeps, performance-wise. Performance in general has improved so much over the past 2 decades. Think about it: 10 years ago, 0-60 in the 5 second range was about as fast as it got without going to exotics. 20 years ago, 0-60 in the low 8 second range was considered quick, and there were only a handful of affordable cars in the low 7 second to high 6 second range. Exotics were in the mid-5 second range, and nothing really faster.
These are good times we live in
2002 Corvette Z06, Electron Blue/Black
On order: 2003 G35C, 6MT, DG/G, Nav/Aero/Premium, ETA 7/03

Re: Good car to race
I think some of those times are wrong. I know that it takes much longer for the Integra and RSX to get to 60 the euro RSX with the 225hp and no radio and ac take to 60 that time. I was told that the awd 330xi is faster because its suspension lighter. Another problem I see is how can the sedan 330i do the same as the 330i coupe? The time for the 540i AT is wrong to most times i have seen are 6.1. What car you forgot was the Audi TT.

Re: Good car to race
Z06ified, I agree the 0-60 or 1/4 mile times on a good number of the new cars are pretty incredible VS the late 60's and early 70's muscle cars considering the size of the engines today. I used to drag race a 69 Firebird with several thousand dollars (big money for me as a kid) of performance parts at Bandimere Speedwayand was doing 14 second 1/4 mile runs at altitude (Elevation 5814' )in Colorado. I thought that was pretty good at the time, but the G comes pretty close to this stock with a much smaller engine.

Ahhh Yet again our favorite town idiot speaks. School out early or recess? COUPEIDIOT03, You may notice in my post above that I said and I quote: "I THINK it pushes 260hp". Apperantly do you not excel at reading as much as you do running your mouth and aimlessly wasting oxygen. Oh! and you've learned to use the copy feature for web links I'm so proud!
If that black hole in your head is as deep as I think it is you probably didn't read the big "S" next to the letters that spell B.O.X.T.E.R. Maybe you raced an MR2 spyder or a cadillac who cares. Your credibilty is obviously high so I'm sure there's no doubt about your story. As for my shifting skills son I have been drivin mannies for several years. I'm quite confident in my skills and confident that you have nothin but hot air to offer in that arena. But I pray I pull up next to you in Long Beach simpleton cuz' runnin yer BIG mouth doesn't win races, skill does. I'm not worried.....

Yea, I know it sounds weird but Car & Driver got 0-60 in 6.1s for the RSX. Here's the link to it: 2002 Acura RSX Type-S C&D.

The BMW 330i MT and 330ci MT weigh more or less the same so they pretty much get similar times.

The 540i AT was a 2001 tested by C&D in September, 2001 issue. And it got 0-60 in 5.7, 1/4 14.3@97MPH.

But you gotta take in consideration that many factors affect the performance of each car tested and C&D usually have the fastest times cuz they beat the hell out of the cars to extract their maximum performance capabilities. And most "normal" drivers don't get 0-60 or 1/4 times near what pros get.

Re: Good car to race
I understand what you mean but if they got the Type S to that time then that means the euro type R get to 60 in 5.5. But I think that wrong tho those times. Most times I have seen for the type S is 6.5.
About the 330i and 330ic its the same engine of course but how can it do the same time when the 2 door is lighter in weight.

That does not bode well for your future racing endeavors!
If it weren't for that car having 4 doors, I think I probably would have bought it if the PP came on the BMW coupe. I think it'd have been too tasty to pass up. Especially since I'm so used to *** cars and wanted a change.
Oh well, maybe next time!
