I test drove an 05 Legacy Limited GT (Awesome car just had a few quirks that I didn't like), '04 BMW 330Ci (Great car but not at that price, also looks dated), 05 G35 Coupe AT.

I test drove an AT coupe because at the time I had no idea how to drive stick. Love at first drive.

Nope. Exactly what I wanted. Although I did stop by a dealership while out of town on biz (closest dealership is 4 hours from me), in order to make sure I fit in the seat. Didn't have the time to take it for a spin.

I didn't test drive my car before I bought it, but I had previously test driven 2 350Z's, an automatic G35, and also one in a 6-speed(from the place that I ended up buying it at). I test drove a different colored G35 in a 6-speed than the one I ended up buying.

If I did it all over again, I would still get the same car... but they always recommend that you test drive the actual car that you are going to buy, in case there is something wrong with the clutch or it makes a weird noise, etc.

The salesman asked me to get on the highway. The enterance had a stop sign where he instructed me on how to turn off the vdc and told me to go ahead and lit up the rear tires. After the highway, he took me down some windy backroads where I got to really test the handling. He made it clear that he had never been on a test drive that so thuroughly tested the car.
Nothin like beatin the **** out of a 20 mile car. I did the same, didn't think the salesman was that thrilled about it. Not sure why he was irritated, I did end up buying one, just not the one I test drove to hell and back. I left that car for some other person to buy.

I usually ask for a test drive of the car I want to buy just to make sure I know
it's working correctly and no serious rattles or electronic problems, etc.
It's usually the 2nd time I appear at the dealer though..which by then the
sales guy know me and im pretty serious about buying so they let me pull a
brand new one out of the lot.

First time I just drive watever demo car they have.

Test drove a 5AT twice (dealer even let me go by myself). Bought a 6MT (they didn't have one available for test drive, but was impressed enough by the auto).
