is clear bra on bumper and headlights enough?
is clear bra on bumper and headlights enough?
picked up an 05, it had defects on front bumper, dealer fixed defects and as compensation offered to do the front bumper and headlights at any place i want. I'm taking it to sticker city this saturday.
My question: with clear bra only on bumper and headlights, where will I be likely to get scratches? - I am looking to hear from people that have had the g for a long time and can speak from real experience. Thanx.

Get all the bumper done, as well as the first 6" of the hood. I got the side view mirrors done too. They also will take a beating.
If you wanted to go one step further get the leading edge of the roof done.

It depends on the color of your car. If it's a dark color like black, I would do only the bumper and headlights. If it's applied on the hood with only the front section covered, you will be able to see the line. On lighter color cars it's less noticable especially silver.
Mistermojorizin, I had my ride done at sticker city and also my wife's Hummer H3 done. Talk to Andy, he is the owner and he did both of our cars. They do a really nice job. I got my whole bumper (top to bottom), piece of my hood, side mirrors, blue tint over my headlights, and tailights w/brake light and turn signal cut out for $800 out the door. He has done quite a few G35's over there plus one new H3 lol. They are all cool people there. Say you heard his name through me, my name is Vene (pronounced Vinnie) Ventura w/the Athens Blue G35. He should remember me or just say the guy w/his wife's H3. Hope this helps. My ride is Athens Blue and you could only see the line if you come up to the car. Hope this is helpful.
i have a diamond graphite one. don't wanna have that line showing. did anyone here NOT do the hood and mirrors? How many chips do you guys see there?
Chizeld - I'll mention your name thanx. You emphasize that you got your "whole bumper (top to bottom)" done - is this a point that I should whatch out for - I was told the dealership is picking up the cost of "the bumper and headlights" - are they gonna try to do only part of the bumper? Is this an issue?
I'd also like to see the rear tailights of your car Chizeld. I want to get my taillights darkened, do you know how much doing the tailights should cost?

I've got black and am doing the bumper, first 8" or so of the hood, mirrors and fenders. I had a black S2000 prior to this and the hood was just a wreck. I could live with the noticable line if it keeps the hood clean. It was terrible, I actually quit washing it the last 6 months I had it because I couldn't stand how the hood looked.
From the cutout kits I've seen for the G35, the "basic" kit is fenders, mirrors and hood. The next step up is to add the bumper which is two pieces, one giant one that covers the entire painted surface and then one for the "chromed" grill part. One of the guys I talked to said he doesn't recommend the bumper because the paint on that already has flex agent in it and it isn't as suceptible to chips. From my experience with my S2000 I'd have to concur with that, but I'm getting it done anyway (not the grill part though) because I'm hoping bugs will come off easier than off the bumper itself.
There are also pieces for the door edges, under the gas door and along the sides of the trunk. I'm thinking about adding the trunk ones, I was always REALLY careful with the Honda but that thing was all scuffed up next to the trunk.

wow u guys r only getting 6"-8"s? mine went about an inch or two above the headlihgtts. that wasn't enough and the dealer did a crap job on mine, so i went with "wil" on this forum who has quite a solid rep w/ this stuff. they put it on the entire hood, which is well worth it in my opinion, but for something like tis, make sure ur getting a very skilled guy. oh btw, it will cost u close to a grande for something like mine. imo, it is well worth it if ur wondering.
