G best car under 40k???

Hey Guys,

I'm sure I will get a lot of opinions on this, but do you think the G is the best car avail under 40k? I just sold my car today, and I have around 13k to put down on a new one, and I have been looking at buying a G for a few months now, but now that I'm ready I was just wondering if there is anything else out there that I'm haven't considered yet. I definitely want new, so nothing used. I was thinking about an S2K for a while, but I don't want a 2 seater. Any other ideas, opinions??

It depends, best car in what respect?

The Acura TL is a very nice car.. though it's front wheel driver. it has a powerful engine, higher quality of fit and finish in the interior, and in general feels more expensive inside than the G will.

Then there is the REAL value car (IMO) the new Accord Coupe.. comes standard with almost every single amenity and you get nav for under 30k.

But in terms of performance and value, nothing will beat the G35 in my opinion. You won't get 300 HP in a luxury coupe for under 40K anywhere else.

A new Lexus IS that will be coming out relatively soon. I'm not sure if that can be had for under 40K though.

Well, when I was in the market the BMW manager himself told me that if I liked the G, to get it, because its the best deal I'll find for a new 40k car. He said we can sell you a 5 series but it will be more, and not as quick.

Yeah G prolly is, pending on your taste of course... I hate acura's I think their cheap honda knock offs, and never been a fan of lexus either

Guess I should have been a little more specific, sorry about that. When I said best I mean the total package of both luxury and the options you get with the car. I wanted power along with the luxury aspect of the car which is why I leaned away from getting a Vette and since I can't afford an M3 its out of the question. I want 2 doors so that throws out the IS300. The TL is nice, but I want rear wheel drive.

the 6spd accord coupe is a great car under 30k...i had an auto with navi and got it for under 27k OTD...i think the navi's in the hondas and acuras are the best out there...plus on hondas and acuras there are not many options since everything is pretty much standard...

EVO,WRX,350Z,Used M3, S2000 were my options
Very close call for S2000 but
(btw i was considering MT)
of course...G dominates and most expensive car on the list above.

I like the new accords but I didn't want another honda since I just had one for the past 4 yrs. I wanted something that was a step up in both peformance and class. I don't like the EVO but I do like the STI, but I didn't want 4 doors.

JDM why did you choose the G instead of the S2K since it was such a close call??

well i liked convertible of s2k and nice interiors blah blah
but i wanted white ext /black int color which you cant get.
basically color problem. however, i liked overall appearance of G even tho it lacked performance compare to s2k
its a long story and i am missing something here (i cant think...)

btw, if you are considering to modify, its better to go with WRX instead of STI IMO.
i think it's total waste of money to get STI if you are gonna modify it...just my 2C

That's funny cause I wanted to get a G with black on black but the best you can do is black on graphite, which I'm sure most will tell me it's close enough.

Hey Repsol considering your criteria the G35 coupe 6MT is the best match for you period!!! It's a two door, rear wheel drive, good combo of luxury/performance/value, and well under $40K, change left for the option list, best thing for your criteria, etc.

Thanks for the input topscrt05. That's what I was thinking, I have been looking at everything for a few months now, I just want to know that I have considered all my options before I drive down to the dealership in the morning. I'm going for Black on graphite, except my dealer says that I'm gonna have a lot of issues with swirls, especially since I live in the desert.

I wanted black very badly too before i got my G.. as a matter of fact the dealer recieved a black G before they recieved the DG.. they let me know it had come in. .i nearly went down that night to get it..

but if you do a search on the forum, you'll find that many people who have gotten black regret it horribly.. i suggest you don't go with black.

It definately fits the two door, RWD criteria.. but it seemed your number criteria was the total package and luxury options included.. and price I would imagine.. Nothing will compare to the new Accord.. it's going to have every option and feature any of the cars listed will have ( I THINK).. and probably more/better luxury options/features than the G has.. I havent looked into it a horrible lot but i may be wrong.. but i do know the G is lacking in many common things that even non "luxury" brands like Toyotas and Honda's have now..
