Happens weekly here in WI for the last 11 years for me. First in my 300ZX, then in the S2000 and it still happens now. If I drive past someone who is in an entirely different lane I'll often get the same F YOU that IS300toG35 gets. I'll never get it other than to think they MUST be jealous. Or missing an awful lot of brain cells. Or both.

You're 100% right. Lane discipline in this country absolutely sucks and what does the DOT do about it? Start a misinformation campaign that "speed kills" and that they are cracking down on speeding across the US. Speed isn't the issue it's DIFFERENCE in speed that is the issue. If they would enforce keeping right except to pass the highways would be safer, but they don't care about that, they care about revenue generation and what better way to built the coffers than enforcing artifically low set speed limits?Originally Posted by izmir41500
They need to start giving tickets to ppl in going slow in the left lane. but theres just some ppl out there that just don't know how to drive, can't help that. just be safe and back off till you get a chance to pass

I'm from S/E Pa & SO Jersey, recieved lots of thumbs up, & "nice car" from ppl on the road. I try to be courteous and move over, most ppl do the same here.

i've had the same problem here in SF. when i first got my car i was driving and some guy in some contracting pick-up was just yelling at me for no reason so i gave "the finger" and took off but there has to be something wrong with that guy. also recently i got my rear driver side tire slashed and just two weeks after that i got my car keyed, my tail light broken, my car dented, and my spoiler scratched right in front of my house. i live by a high school so i think some from school did it b/c their jealous or they just seriously hates me.

yeah, I see a huge difference in what I call "road respect" when driving the G and then switching to my F350. The F350 is a powerstroke and lifted a little, so it's kinda hard not to see and hear. People move outta my may, it's nice! In the G....well good thing it's a quick little car, so I can easily pass the a$$holes that won't get outta the left lane!

After driving my 05 G35c 6MT for the past month or so, I've been noticing a bit of animosity from the BMW 3 series and M3 folks, especially those in their teens and twenties. They love to turn around and give that evil stare; what's up with that? Any how, 90% of the people driving Jettas seem to have a patience issue when driving on the highways; this seems especially true with the girls/women that drive the Jetta (they're usually teenagers or in their twenties as well).
With that said, beware of Jettas; they're the little chihuahuas that like to pick on the bigger dogs.

I hear you on peep's attitudes, and yes they seem to change towards owners of nice rides like ours. The other factor, too, is the number of drivers out there today compared to days gone by. It's a real jungle out there and people have no patience anymore.Originally Posted by sysman0

For the past 10 years I had a toyo 4 runner and I usually never had a problem with people letting me in the next lane or moving over from the left lane on the highway so I can pass. But...since I've had my G, they never move over when driving on the highway when I'm coming on behind them (they always seem to actually slow down and keep with the car in the next lane so I can't pass. And i could put my signal to move to the next lane and the other car wont let me in. And when I finally can squeeze by I always get the same dirty looks. I've lived in Miami all of my 30 years and I know some people are not so nice here (especially on the road) but Man, it's like they're Big Time Haters.
A sign of the times.

so far ive had my G in maimi for almost 2 months now, every time i see a G i give a wave, flash my lights or somthing to try and get the other drivers atten. so far i've only had dirty looks or none at all. when my car was still in jersey i would see other G's flashing at me when ever i flashed or waved. I font really understand it out here.
As far as other drivers... i either get a look (mostly from females) or a very negetive look(mostly males)
. I dont know if its b/c im young w/ a nice car or what.. ive going to school out here in MIA, so ive only been here like a year... still havent been able to figure it out..
But i luv gettin those looks from the ladies.

for me living in sf, people that drive nice cars usually give me the thumbs up....yesteday i had these 2 latino guys in a ford aerostar rolls up next to me in a nice way...and go "let's race"...and there's traffic..he was playing so it was all good and his buddy gave me the thumbs up...i was on van ness close to the mission we were laughing since there was gridlock traffic...other times people will just ask me about the car...wow what's a skyline i explain the difference between the infiniti and nissan and they go wow...if i'm parked i'll show them my mods headunit and other toys...they just stare in awe....
it's not worth confronting idiots on the road...u never know if they have a gun on them...i was mergin on 101 by burlingame in the slow lane...letting in this white guy in a catera me asian...i'm like ok merge...homeboy's on the phone going 40mph so i honk nicely..he rolls up right next to me with the finger straight up and he speeds off...i didn't even acknowledge it...cause if anything he should know better that i can chase him down or outrun him..but is it worth it?

I haven't encountered 1/100th of the road rage you guys seem to catch. I guess it's either my "off" hours driving to and from work (6am and 3pm typically) and the areas I drive in through Jacksonville......
Or the fact that I (legally) have a subcompact .45 in reach at all times and would not hesitate to defend myself and my precious G (Rayne, lol) at the first moment we felt threatened. Hell, 'ol Jeb passed a bill (goes into effect July 1) that allows me to use deadly force if I feel my life is threatened in any way.

yep I notice the difference in when I drive my Pathfinder vs my G. People are more couteous when I'm in the Pathfinder than in the G

its probably you haha. dont you think its kinda snobbish to assume that any dirty look you get is because theyre either jealous or hating on you cause of your car. i know sometimes i do things that are like that and im not a stuck up snobby guy at all. when i get out of my car i always gotta look back and check everything and i know people around me are like who the **** does this guy think he is. or when i take it into a parking lot or a valet and i mention to him to be careful with it. im just doing that because i love my car so much but to other people they might think im some materialistic stuckup showoff or something.
i know if i was in my old car and i got a dirty look i would be like what is this dude eyeing me for but if im in my G im like look at this ****ing hater! haha

Ok. Hmm, I actually hate it when you're in the fast lane going 80mph and they tailgate you, "bullying" you to move over. Why don't you just switch lanes ahead of time and pass on by? Also, don't think you can just switch lanes at the last second hoping for people to let you in so easily.. Think ahead of time and switch over instead of trying to save 'distance' by waiting till the last second. I live in L.A. and you can't do that **** around here.Originally Posted by sysman0

If I were going 65mph (or the speed limit), I would understand.. but 80mph isn't actually slow. I actually do what you've stated in your post, I slow down and **** you off and make you switch lanes to try to pass me, then speed up. Jerk.

So, in my opinion, it's not the car.. it's..?

I always let nice cars in.
Whenever i see a g35 or bmw or mercedes..
I smile and let them in with hand jesture.
Some of them are cocky as hell, acting like "you drive a honda, you better let me in"
but few actually raise their hand and let me know that they appreciate it.
Afterall, there are *******s and nice people out there.
Just cope with it, don't stress YOUR self over it. If you do, you are doing
exactly what they want you to do.
Chances are, they are probably jealous of you for driving a nice car like G35.
