Hi, im planning on installing my Pac-AAI-NIS unit in sometime this week. I was wondering what the best way to remove the aluminum trim is?

I have the manuel on cd and know where the fastners are etc.. but just wanted tips on how to remove the trim wit out scratchign it. Once its removed the rest should be cake..

Personally, if you want to guarantee you wont scratch anything mask it all off with masking tape
it may leave a little residue after you take it off but nothing some goo gone cant handle and it sure is better than having scratches

I cant say on how to do it for the 05 since I have an 04 but with 04s and 03s you remove the lower plastic pieces for the passenger and drivers side, then remove the lower center console to reveal the screws holding in the whole stereo and hvac unit

The extra wires on the PAC unit are for interfacing with the SWI-X unit, dont worry about them

I was able to remove ALL BUT the 2 last clips that hold it in place near the ash tray. I sturggled with it for while then just gave up . I checked the repair manuel and it only shows 2 clips near the ashtray area. But i was not able to disingage them. Anyone know a nice trick? I tried pulling it towards the back.. stright up . but nuttin. The all the other clips came of very eazy jsut these 2. are hard.

Thanks.

If your car is in park, you can't pull the aluminum piece out. Put on the emergency brake and then put the car in neutral then you should be able to get it out.

I just installed my PAC yesterday. I can't get my shifter **** working. Can anyone offer any help on this?

The shifter was the biggest pain in the A$$!! I didnt figure it to put into neutral for a while...I just used a flat screwdriver...not a single scratch.
