Opinion Please

I just took the plunge and bought a 2005 G35 AT with Sport Tuned susppension and premium package. I drove it on the freeway for the first 200 miles but I brought it over to Sunday dinner at the in-laws (Big Mistake). I let my brother-in-law take it for a spin and he joked when he brought it back that the ManuShift sucked and that it would not shift fast enough for him. He joked that the revs went way high and he hoped that I did not have a break in period. After he saw how pissed off I was, he backed off and said that he did not take the revs high. The car runs fine with no weird smells or shift problems. Should I be worried? Does the car have rev limiters to protect it? Please help... I need some peice of mind...

Thanks

As stated by others, you should be fine. It's always good to follow the suggested manufacturer break-in procedure (1200 miles, don't go > 3-4k RPM). I learned my lesson aswell in letting one of my friends take my car out for a spin with me in it. He popped it into manual mode, and shifted wrong, which resulted in him bouncing off the rev limiter a few times. Ultimately it was my fault for letting him drive my new car with < 100 miles on it. I will never let anyone else besides maybe my girl drive my car again, you live and you learn.

Probably no damage, but I'd accompany any test pilots from now on. (even family)

Yes there are rev limiters to protect the engine from over revving, but it's break-in time. Take it easy, and allow test drives after break-in just to be safe.

Its an auto, it has no rev "meter"...its called a rev light which only comes on 05 6MTs, and no matter what it's set to, you can drive past it since it is ONLY an indicator light (glamourous reasons).
