$300 For Tires?!?

My tire light was on even after checking the tire pressure so, took it to the dealer and they told me that there are punctures in the rear tires and they are worn out so the tires need to be replaced. Does this sound right? I only have 20,000 miles on it! Where does everyone go for good deals on tires?
thanks

performance tires have a lower tread life than normal tires. I'd say 20,000 is a little above normal. I got about 18,000 out of mine. My old M3 was about 7500 on a set of tires, but I was also running -3.5 degrees of camber with some horrible toe.

But I digress...check online, tirerack.com, discount tires (tire.com?). Usually if you find prices here you can take them to a shop and see if they will match it. But I would expect to spend somewhere in the ball park of 700-1000 dollars depending on what type of tires you get. You might even be able to find some cheapos for 100 bucks each, unless you have 19's in which case be prepared to go near the 1000 dollar mark.

I see nothing too out of the ordinary with paying around 300$ per performance tire.

20k is about the life span of the OEM tires, or really any tire in this family.

well if there are punctures in the rears you need to get new ones. go to discount tire and they'll check the tread for you on all of them and give you some suggestions. i paid around $800 including warranty for BF Goodrich KDWII's 235/45/17 on my IS300. So for 19" they'll be around $1k for all 4

Only had my 04 for 3 weeks & got a nail in the tire. The replacement cost $270 at discount tire, this included the road hazzard warranty. I went ahead & purchased the warranty on the other tires as well. $45 each tire.

Like how everyone has mentioned previously, 20,000 miles is normal.. But for $300, try getting a deal somewhere. I got my set of Falken Azenis ST115s for $504 total.

The price will depend largly on the size. $300 sounds right for the 19's. $250 - $270 for 18's. I got 25K out of my rear 18's.

I feel for you: with 3900 miles on my coupe, I got a blow on the rear tire last week, the dealer wants $375! Yikes... In addition, they say this wasn't manuf. defect... Good luck, try Costco if they are in your area. I've found them to have the best price.

Unhappy Don't feel like the Lone Ranger....

I'm going through the same thing right now. Got in the car and the "low press" light was on. I didn't notice it at first untill I backed out. Sure nuf' there was a punture right on the edge of the tread. Got the tire loose from the rim and and the inner liner on the side of the tire that faces the outside. Whole tire was messed up. 8K miles on it! They are the Bridgestone EH33 Turanzas, what a POS! $290 for a tire that lasts 16K maybe. I have the warantee on them so the tire will be replaced N/C to me, but, damn! I have found many tires that are a lot less that are much better than this thing. Heck, I can get Goodyear Eagle F1" for less. Even Tirerack.com has Pilots for less.

What do you guys think of:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....h=true&index=2
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2, they are pretty cheap. Do you guys recomend just swaping the rears if the fronts are still have some left?

thanks
