Smile F**ked up dealorship service dept at C**st M*sa.. Pls save me and recommend others!!!

I am not trying to name names, but I am just very pissed off that dealorship listed in my "title"!!

Here goes the story:
I took "an hour vacation" day and drove from my work to dealorship for diagnostic check, and to replace my door panel bulb. Why would I want diagnostic after I did my 15k maintenance at that dealorship? I had rattling sound coming from my central shift *** area (that plastic cover). I requested a diagnostic on that when my car was around 5000~7000 miles and dealor put a foam to hold the plastic, and that is getting loose again.

I asked the dealor to check my rattling sound, and dealor replied back "the noise is coming from the stuff you put in your armrest". What kind of BS is that? Dealorship had a record of this problem, and I requested like 3 times to check it; I never heard nothing from the storage under my armrest!!!

That is one thing, the second thing that was more outrageous is that my car had rattling sound coming from the front central panel area (behind NAVI) after $300 (with A/C filter replaced) 15k maintenance. I told dealor that it could be some loose screw that causes the noise. Dealor in return claimed they CANNOT duplicate the problem... OK fine, the second I drove my car out of dealorship, the rattling sound has been there til today (Tuesday to Friday of this week).

FINE, at least I get to have my door panel bulb replaced right? For driving an hour, wasted my gas, and lost one hour vacation day....NAH, they ordered the WRONG part... sigh, what kind of idiot makes such mistake?

In addition to this dealorship's poor performance, one of my aftermarket HID bulb died, and dealor said it is going to cost me more than $80 to put my stock one back one... haha that is funny... lifting the car and open the cover at inner front wheel area and change the bulb is $80? How much do they charge for an hour? This is a 10 minutes work. If I have the lifting machine myself, I would've done that myself.

This dealorship is good for sales, but horrible at service. I think my service guy B*LL (a.k.a BI*L) is fawking with me. I do not recommend anyone to that dealorship....

Sorry for the long post, I just dont want my fellow G35 owners to be disrespected like me...

PLEASE RECOMMEND ME A GOOD SERVICE PLACE....Help me~Help you~

Sadly if the book says it takes 1 hour to change the bulb. They charge you 1 hour for the change. Even if it takes 10 mins. In the end you are screwed.

Might also take the service manager on a ride with you so he can hear the noise you are talking about.

I had a similar problem with CM. I had squeak coming from the rear end of the car, the tech wrote "Aftermarket intake causes whistling sound". Too bad I didn't say it was a whistle, and to bad I said it was coming from the rear end. I think there service dept is told to go through as many cars as possible in the shortest amount of time, even if they haven't even checked to see if they fixed the problem. And is it me, or do they not stock any part there for the G. Everything is we have to order the part and it will be 3-7 days for it to arrive. What BS.

Go to Tustin Infiniti, I've heard good things about them from fellow forum members.

Cerritos has gotten better. Not great, but they dont' look like they are just waiting to screw you, like they were, 2 years ago. ;-)

Dealers charge $80.00 an hour in labor costs, minimum 1 hour. Menaing if it's a 5 minute job, you're still paying $80.00 unless you do it yourself.

Unhappy

So $80 / hr is the regular rate? I remember few years ago hourly rate at my insurance's bodyshop was only less than $30/hr, and at the same time the rate was $50/hr in bayarea.

This is just so outrageous... How come I am not getting my pay double? Good info though.... that means dealorship will never earn a penny on any body job from me from now on -)

But I highly doubt that CM dealorship even inspected my car. They probably just sat the car in parking lot waiting for me to pick up... I will try Tustin next time. Hopefully they do what they get paid for.

Alternatively speaking, does anyone know any good bodyshop that takes care of our car? Frankly speaking, I feel way more comfortable to have a trusted bodyshop do maintenance for my car. I always think dealorship does a lousy job unless you bring the attention to the service manager... but once again, I would choose to let someone else earn my money rather than wasting my time getting hassle to talk to a manager who even may defend for his own department.

Thanks for the info though =)

If the flat rate per hour is 80.00 reporting it to the BBB or any other agency will do nothing. You are charged per hour if it takes 5 to 15 mins it won't matter. Lexus, Infiniti, etc are all charging 65+ per hour these days just depends on where you live.

I wont report to BBB... but I just think they are not doing their jobs like Professionals... worse than my Canyan Honda dealorship, what a shame.

I will try other dealorships from now on.. .the reason i went back there for services was because i had a great experience purchasing my car there... but I guess diff departments run differently.

I would only use a dealer for warranty work, and maintenance. Nothing else.

You should try a dictionary.

You can afford a G35 but you can't spell the word dealership properly?
