the flat tire jack
the flat tire jack
Has anyone had theirs **** up?
cuz I used mine today and right after I removed the tire
the damn thing collapsed. like it bent into a interesting position
and slammed down onto the brake rotors ****ing them up..
I quickly went to wal-mart to buy a jack and jackstands
but its too late. I think i need a new rotor.
and no I'm not a dumbass. I know how to change a spare tire
and yes I put it in the right place right between the two notches.
the damn thing just collapsed and bent. its like all deformed now.
wtf is this? don't you think they should have included a stronger jack with our cars if they are so heavy?
do you think I could get the dealer to fix the damage and replace the jack for free?

You could try by claiming that it was faulty. Your dealer may be sympathetic.
The OEM jack isn't the best for sure, and should be used as a last resort, and along with chocking all other wheels.
G/L with the dealer, and show him the damaged rotor(s).

did you use wheel chocks? Ive used the factory jack on many occasions
including the G35c and never had that happen on any of my cars...
It could be a faulty jack, I would also consult your insurance agent to
see how you might be able to get some funds to cover your damage.

the jack will torque & twist if the wheels roll even 1 inch. It's built to hold the weight straight up & down. If you didn't "chock" the wheel, it may roll that 1 inch & twist it just enough to bend it. But yes, it is a flimsy crappy little jack. I bet if you show them the jack, all twisted & deformed, they'll (dealer) cover it.
I was on a flat surface(my garage), wheels were choked.
Right now the car is on jackstands and choked because I got Organic Chemistry finals this week. No time to go argue it out with the dealer.
been driving my accord in the meantime
I figured calling roadside assistance to my house would be kind of stupid?
I pictured some guy laughing at me about driving 30 minutes just to change a spare tire.
but I'm a guy.. ive done this tons of times before.
I didnt have my normal jack cuz my friend borrowed it to change his suspension in his car. I didnt think the OEM was that bad.. the accord one never had any problems. and i was comparing the two.. the nissan one is noticeably thinner and flimsier looking than the one i have from honda.
I'll update the situation next week with what the dealer says.

I don't like the quality of the jacks Nissan puts in their cars. This includes Infiniti. When I was working on my wheels, I was making use of my Altima jack (which actually is rated higher than the G35 jack), and that one collapsed under the weight of the car. Luckily, the wheel was still semi on the car and no damage occurred. I used the Infiniti jack afterwards and noticed it really isn't all that strong either. Honestly, I hate using spare jacks. It takes a more effort and time than needed. I'm looking into investing into a hydrolic shop jack. I change my oil and rotate tires on other cars for my family and it seems like a good buy.
