should i sell my DC headers for crawford

My DC's are ceramic and i was wondering if i should just save some more money sell the DC and go for the crawfords. Do you guys think the crawford has a significant gain in hp over the DC?

SS or Ceramic, why or why not?

thanks

Who's installing them? Keep in mind that the Crawfords are going to take a good 6-8 hours to install by a professional shop because they'll have to lift the engine off its mounts. If you're having someone else install them for you, think if ~$500 for the install alone is worth the few more horses you get, if any, because so far I haven't seen too many dyno charts that show either brand as more favorable.

My opinion - If they are not installed, get the Crawfords, and sell DCs. Here, in Tucson install for DCs is $200.00. My Crawfords cost $350.00 to install.

The crawfords are probably the most hp producing headers out. I would save up for that.

I vote for:

1. Forget NA, stay bone stock and slap on a vortec with the 8-lb pulley.
2. Go 100% Crawford if you ignore #1...

Get Alphawerks headers. Dyno proven 17 peak hp to the wheels. Crawford has no dyno of just the headers, only claiming 20 peak hp WHEN USED WITH THEIR CATS AND PLENUM. Plus the Alphawerks are only $675ish.

Ummm, when considering all of the above info... maybe it would be a good idea to read this little article.

Also, the Alphawerks headers are not made for US Left hand drive cars. Nexus Industries buys the Alphawerks headers and modifies them for the LHD vehicles.

If memory serves correctly, the ~17rwhp dyno for Alphawerks headers was done with non-stock cats (I think it was done w/ straight pipes). Unfortunately the search function on my350z.com isn't working very well right now.

One more tid-bit of information. Nexus/Alpha headers are not true equal length headers and they are not as long as the Crawfords either.

You mean to tell me that there's a 20rwhp jump in power from 6,200 to 6,600 rpm with the Crawford package? Has anyone actually proven this on a dyno? I can't wait for you to redyno on stock wheels, but I think you have the right idea about the Vortech..

I like Crawfords stuff, have the plenum, but that is one of the three reasons that I went Nismo. There are no pre and post Crawford Header dyno's on my350z or on driver that I could find. The other reasons for the Nismo was OEM quality and there is no reason to lift the engine during the install.

Regardind the Alpha's I believe Neff is right, the 17Hp for the Alpha's was done with non-stock cats. However, I think there is another Alpha pre and post over on my350z that is a straight apples to apples comparison. Don't remember the #'s though.

By the way, here is the one pre and post Nismo header dyno that I could find where all else is stock:

http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57247

11 HP 18 TQ

Now, assuming the Crawford headers do at least as good as the Nismo's do (and that daytona350z's dyno is valid), that would mean that adding the plenum and cats to the headers would create an additional 9HP and 2TQ at peak. If the Crawford headers do better than the Nismo's. . . well, there is something to think about.
