Oil Change grace period?

Oil Change grace period?
I'm finally due for my first oil change and I'm just wondering if anyone knows just how strict dealerships are in regards to getting it done according to the manual. Basically I just want to know if they are going to trip out later on if something does go wrong and warranty work is needed. I can just hear them saying, well you were over X amount of miles on your oil change so therefore the warranty is voided....
2. Any idea what it normally costs for an oil change at the dealerships? I'm sure it varies but I just want to get an idea.
3. I've read that some people take their own oil/filter etc does this cause them to charge you less?
4. What brand/weight oil does everyone use? I know some like synthetics, etc.
Thanks in advance for all your replies.....

1. i have the dealer do my oil change every 8k miles or so just so its in their logs incase anything warranty related comes up
2. like $30something? i have an invoice somewhere if you want me to dig it up..
3. they should
4. Synthetics = Castro or Mobil1, 5w30 is good if your in a hot area. but since its summer its a good choice.. 4.7qts goes for $15-20 at walmart.

The factory warrranty requires 7500 miles [8,000 miles ?????] or 6 months maximum.
Because of the extremely small volume of oil in sump and tiny oil filter, in my opinion you should use the 3,750/90 day interval ------IF you care about beyond warranty engine life and want to maintain performance for a long time but then again I like to keep my Infiniti's for 15 years and 300,000 miles minimum.

I usually do mine every 6months which is less than 7500miles and at the dealer.
I don't do oil changes by myself cause it's just too much of a hassle for me.
It costs about $30-35 usually and get some freshly grounded coffee while I wait,
get to check out other cars in the automall.
I only drive the car on the weekends with little traffic so the engine does not
get as strained as my commuter in rush hour, etc. and I don't drive the car
that aggressively at all so no meaning for me to change it any earlier. Not
that my leased civic (commuter) gets more frequent oilchanges.... every
6months as well.
I rarely keep any car more than 40k miles.
