All of you 6MT owners with tranny problems READ!!!

So, I brought my car to Crescent City Infiniti (New Orleans) today and they asked me what the problem with my transmission seemed to be. I explained about the grinding and how the car seems to hold RPMs. They called an hour later stating that they had talked to Infiniti (the big guys) and they had said that they have had multiple claims of this issue and shipped a new tranny today for arrival tomorrow. This tells me that Infiniti must realize the problem and is very willing to fix it with a NO QUESTIONS ASKED attitude.

On a side note, if you live anywhere within a 3 hour drive of Crescent City Infiniti, go there if you plan on buying an Infiniti.
They truly have top notch service and a top notch staff.
I must truly tip my hat to them as they have provided excellent customer service thus far. I am also getting my first scheduled oil change and having the drilled aluminum pedal set installed while my car is in the shop seeing as I have now reached 3800 miles.

I will be sure to get back to yall on how the new tranny performs, I am also going to find out if it is a different tranny design or just the same tranny as before... Hopefully things wont start smelling LEMONy for the 6MT Coupe!!

I have over 12000 miles on my coupe...the grinding was getting progressively worse...took it in last week for the window streak and brake sensor TSB's and they called me about 2 hours later and told me they ordered a new tranny...getting it installed tomorrow...no questions asked...so you're right...they do realize that there is a problem with a few of these trannys.

I dont know how to tell if it is an 03 or an 03.5, i am guessing that mine is an 03.5 since it came with the arm rest thing in the middle???

I had 3800 miles on it...

there is no 03.5 model coupe, thats only for the Sedan.

they made 1 tiny change in the 6MT mid-year and that was a new armrest.....that does not signify an 03.5 model year

rumor has it that nissan is modifying the synchros in the tranny and releasing the newer version 6MT soon. so getting a new tranny now might not solve your problems in the long run...good thing for the 70K mile warranty

Hey lipps. I'm in Baton Rouge. I bought my car in San Antonio. I didn't want to wait on an ordered coupe and San Antonio was the closest dealership that had a Laser Red 6MT in stock. I'm not happy with Infiniti of Baton Rouge at all so I may start using Cresent City Infiniti. I talked to Jerry Rhodes (I think that was his name) at Cresent City Infiniti quite a few times before I decided to make the drive to San Antonio. Let me know how your new tranny works out.

Re: All of you 6MT owners with tranny problems READ!!!

at this point I am a little leary about Crescent City Infinit... considering that when my car was in for the tranny swap, the messed up my shifter ****, center console by the seat heaters, and passenger seat

also, while my car was there, they either ran it into another car or ran another car into it, and messed up the whole rear end... i am trying to get advice on legal action presently...

Re: All of you 6MT owners with tranny problems READ!!!

If you go OVER 3k before a shift and have released the cluth fully after going into say 2nd BEFORE 2k .. you will get the smooothest shifts with no grind

I notice the car really likes fast clutch entry exit .. soooo smooth the faster the use.

instead of jamming it in and out as fast as you can .. which is not what I mean ... go in fast .. and pull out fast right up till a few inches so it has time to adjust

wheww .. I need a cigarette now!

b3ar: I just did it and my car does the same thing as yours so it's probably normal.
