6MT guys help with noise

Hey guys I have a question for everyone who owns a 6MT sedan or coupe. I personally own a sedan, but thought posting in the coupe section would get more answers to my question (more coupes with 6mt than sedans). Do any of your 6mt cars make a noise from under the driver side of the hood when you turn your car off? The reason I ask is because my car makes a clicking or ticking noise when I shut her down. The service guys at my local dealership say that is just the through out bearing wining down. I call BS, but before I call them out would like to get your input. They said that all coupe and sedans with the 6mt make the same noise. I have 8,100 miles on my 04 and just noticed this sound in the last few weeks are so.

It's normal. You'll hear it more if you turn the car off with your foot off the clutch pedal.

i didn't hear that noise when i first got my car
it's louder and louder as days go by
i think the 'normal' is bs...no car should make a noise like that imo

It is a common attribute of the 6mt. I also have it in my 05 6mt. I usually shut her down with the clutch pedal depressed though. This eliminates the sound.

I know exactly what you mean. I have been wondering about this as well. The sound is only there if you turn the car off with the clutch out.

I don't think it is the throw out bearing b/c it shouldn't be turning if you clutch is out.....correct???

Anyone know what it is? I also don't think it should make this noise.

Mine is an 03 btw.

I've heard it's the gears still spinning to a stop.

I agree it must be the input shaft on the trasmission spinning to a stop, but why does it make this noise. No other car I've owned makes it. When I first heard it I thought it was a bearing on my input shaft that was going.
