Has Anyone Used A G-Tech Pro to verify any power gains after a mod?
A G-Tech Pro is very accurate at determining RW hp. I have one and have used it on several vehicles. I have a stock coupe ready for some mods and I will use my G-Tech before and after to determine the actual RW hp gained. I was just wondering if anyone has ever done this and if so, what were the results.
I bought an old Gtech meter to try to check HP before and after mods. But to get HP, you have to do 0-60 runs, which is very inconsistent, especially w/ a 6MT. After frying my clutch a couple times I was done with it. A waste of money
There are a lot of variables G-Tech users have to try to control in order to compare before and after mod results. Temp, humidity, elevation, angle of inclination of the road (use same road for both runs), oil life, weight of car (gas tank full or empty), tire pressure, type of gas, and on and on...
and all this to measure ~1-3% increase in performance... I say just save your money. BTW, do you know the accuracy of the G-Tech? is it less than 1% repeatable?

I ve had a meter for some time now. I have yet to actually use it to determine my HP just b/c in order to get an HP reading you have to do an actual 1/4 mile run. not many regular roads you can do a standing 1/4 mile up to 100mph that id be willing to be caught on....
havent hit the track since ive had it to really try....but id agree my $200 wouldve been better spent on a radar detector...

Neff, concerning accuracy, Car & Driver mag did a comparison of a bunch of products. The G-tech actually did pretty well, especially compared to more expensive devices, but the official test box all the car mags use was much more accurate. I can't remember any details though. It was in a recent issue, around April/May.

Rice refers to stupid, non-functional parts that make a car look tacky. The Gtech is not rice, it is somewhat useful.
