Hey all, just wanted to share my experience with the tranny rattle issue. Well, it turns out that my car just needed an oil change. I was due at 3750.. I was at about 3550.

I'm using mobil one Synthetic specifically. They actually made a mistake on my ticket, and put in non synthetic (which still cured the problem..) but had them flush and put in synthetic.

Car now runs smoother.. than snot running down a 2 year old fat baby's nose.

 

You changed your oil which fixed the tranny rattle????? Do you mean you changed your tranny oil which fixed your tranny rattle!!!!!

 

Are you talking about tranny or clutch rattle? The clutch rattle is supposed to go away for the most part after breakin..

I'd had something similar where I'd taken mine in for an engine knock noise. I then thought it was the tranny making noise. It was slight and intermittent. I took it in and they said the engine ate a couple of quarts of oil. I didn't even think to check the engine oil level since it's a new car. And they didn't warranty the engine flush I'd requested. Lame. First car I've owned that ate motor oil. First dealership (Infiniti of Kirkland) that I've delt with that didn't know what to do and asked me. So I asked for the flush and oil change. (Oil change wasn't due yet).

 

I mean.. well when I took it in, they (service center) didn't quite know what to make of it. The engine basically made a really harsh rattle after letting off of the gas. I assumed it was my transmission. They called the top mechanic, and he said it just needed an oil change.

Maybe it was viscosity breakdown or.. whatever. The oil change cured it. Maybe my issue is not the same as the everyone elses. But, just listening to what people were saying, "two metal plates banging together". Sounded like the same problem.
