bad news

No the engine didnt blow but...

I literally have bad luck with this car, I was cruising taking my son home when out of nowhere I see a big a** deer in the air and I just clinch the steering wheel and close my eyes. My son was asleep but I checked to make sure he was okay and then I see that the hood flipped up onto the windshield.

I got out and checked the damage and suprisingly its really not that bad. The bumper brace absorbed all of the impact but the nismo bumper was completely shattered along with the gialla grill. The front clip is broken where the tube from the intercooler goes through..and thats about it. The intercooler is still in the same place and everything under the hood looks good.. the water injection kit may need to be replaced though.

I have to say this is exactly the reason why I waited for the APS kit, the greddy kit removes the front brace and the damage would have been WAY worse had it not been there. They say its a 5mph brace but I hit that deer doing about 35mph.

So does anyone know what I can expect dealing with the insurance company? The front fenders may need replacing.. and of course the front bumper..grill and hood.. will I have to go oem or would it be possible to replace with aftermarket parts? I am with progressive by the way.

dohh!! sorry to hear about your car, but glad to hear you and your son are
okay (well, physically).

You should be able to get that fixed under comprehensive coverage, it might
be a collision since it was a deer... comprehensive is used for flying objects like
signs falling on your car, etc while driving. If you kept all your receipts, your
insurance co should be able to cover for your hopup parts (at least
Statefarm does).

Hope you get your car fixed soon.

sorry to hear that tony,
i have always feared an accident will happen and i will lose all my aftermarket stuff, so i asked my insurance agent if aftermarket stuff was covered in my policy and he said yes, as long as i have invoices for everything. what insurance co do you have???

As long as the statement shows where it was purchased from and some type or part id or number you should be good.

Is the deer okay?! **** the deer!!

Anyway man, its real depressing. Perhaps the worst thing is the fact that you will be paranoid for the rest of your life, or atleast for quite a while traveling down any road that leaves suspicion of deer. I had it happen to me a few months ago, and I still haven't got over my fear of it happening again. Don't forget to make it clear that the deer hit YOU, not that you hit the deer. Good to hear you and your son are allright though.

Check out the damage that bastard did to my Vette:
