Does a G35 belong in apartments?

Im moving out of the house that I share with friends and I have always been able to garage all my cars. Moving into an apartment with my G35 scares me because I will most likely have a carport instead of a one car garage. Who lives in apartments or parks their G outside? Am I just paranoid or should I be really worried. I just hate to wake up one day and see my car all dinged up or worse.

You could try to get an apartment with a garage? Or installing this might help you sleep better: http://www.autotechs.com/items/item1081.htm

to me, it'll be like going to a supermarket everyday and being paranoid about my car around ppl who dont care about other ppl's cars, i.e., dings and shi*.

I live in a pretty shady looking area but I get to garage my car. I park in tandem with my roommate so his jeep is always blocking me in. Makes me feel a little safter that if someone was to steal my car they'd have to move his first. As for door dings, I've got a wall on one side, and I try to hug it. But most of all, as long as the garage is gated I'd feel pretty safe parking my car there. I don't think I'd consider moving to a place without gated parking.

the garage was my requirement when i was looking for an apartment a year and a half ago. no garage, scratch from the list. the apt complex im in has individual garages and doors, not like a mall garage.

Its gated parking and everyone is given a max of two parking spaces. Ill find out in the week if there are no carports and I get a garage. If not I might just have to shell out the $100 extra a month for a garage

I have a 1 car garage for the 1 bedroom my girlfriend and i share. She gets to park the miata outside

What type of area are you in? I live in Irvine so it's actually pretty safe. If you are anywhere near some colleges i would be very wary of that. Try www.apartmentratings.com and look up your apartment to see what other people have said. I just finished seraching for apartments and a few that i really liked i ended up not renting with because people said a lot of the college kids would vandalize the cars and stuff.

I'm not sure if you've already signed the contract and everything but see if you can negotiate a deal to throw in the garage. Like if you plan on living there for a while, extend the contract a few months or something like that. If they're having so-so business, then they just might throw it in. I got mine thrown in at the apt i was living at. I have a 2 car garage all to myself now so i can wash wax and clean all at home...finally....

However, if you are forced to do the carport thing, then I would suggest getting a better alarm cuz there was a thread earlier about the windows not being wired into the alarm system so they really only need to bust it in. Anyways, that's what I read so that's just a suggestion. Good luck, man! I know how it is cuz I'm just as paranoid as the rest of you. It annoys the hell outta my gf when i make her walk from the opposite end of the parking lot when there is a space in the front.

Foobs - Drop her off at the front door and then go park. It's modern-day chivalry.

Im going to be moving to Laguna Hills and the neighborhood is nice. I havent signed a contract yet but left a small deposit and have 2 more days to get it back. I might have to see if they can throw in that garage if I sign a longer lease.

Laguna is nice. Just curious, what are the prices out there for an apt? I know Cali prices in relation to Texas prices are ridiculous. that and gas prices... But I drive around and it's what Cali used to be maybe a year ago..

Lowest I can find these few days in Austin is 2.19 for 93.

Laguna Hills i would imagine should not be too bad. The further south and the further east you get, the better the areas seem to get since they are all pretty much newly developed. Like i said, check out apartmentratings.com to see if your apartment is on there. That site was a BIG help in my apartment search. If the area is gated and does not have many juvenile type kids there i would imagine it would be fine.

I live in Irvine where prices are generally on the higher side, and i'm paying 1565 for a 800 Sq FT, 1br/1ba, with a 1 car garage, washer and dryer in unit, and i have a dog too. It's a little on the steep side, but i guess it is worth it for the convenience of a garage and a washer/dryer in my unit.
