Wow, now you have me worried.

I brought my coupe in today, and one of the things they are checking is excessive road noise from the front tires.

Your just now noticing this on an '03? How many miles do you have on her? I noticed an issue at about 7K miles on the PSs...

I've only owned it for 6 months/~3k-4k miles, and supposedly I got new tires when I bought it....no idea if the previous owner had a problem.

I'm not exactly sure what feathering is, but I'm pretty sure you do not have it. Feathering, as I understand it, is when the tread blocks start flaring up. My car has it on the outside tread blocks. I don't have a pic to show you though. maybe i'll snap one tonight.

Ive had the same problem with my front tires feathering and the alignment being off. After two visits to the dealership they gave me two brand new Michelins, but wound up marking up my rims. I have an 03 and at the time it had 10,000 miles.

Add in my 2 cents in regards to the recent thread about the Z lawsuits.

Mine is a 05 6MT coupe with about 10k (mostly from weekly trips cleveland-columbus) on it. The tires started roaring at around and below 45mph. The roaring is pretty severe as I come to a stop, and makes my velcro dampened Passport 8500 buzz like the special edition harry potter broomstick vibrators.

I took it to the dealer when I had a problem with the crankshaft position sensor, and they said that the front tires are "cupping" (I think they're avoiding the word "feathering"), and that they should be replaced. They chocked it up to the G35 being a "sports car".

I'll going to start collecting the documentation ball if they can't fix this. I had a Mini Cooper S that didn't become a lemon til about 40k miles (same highway miles), at which point the SC bypass valve, throttle valve, rattles galore, exponentially decreasing gas mileage and god knows what else was waiting to pounce.

Not all G35's have this problem, unless all of them do have this problem and are morons who think FRONT tire replacement is normal at 10k miles.

Demount and rotate tires every 3-4k to reduce the directional tire induced problem or run harder compound tires to extend rotation period to 6-8k.

Not sure that mine "pulls" left, but I too notice that it wanders to the left a tad while cruising.

Yep. 05 6mt and my front tires are "cupping" feathering on the inside to. I have no pull - alignment is good. Road noise has increased and I am right at 9000 miles. I have plenty of tread left. What is the dealer going to say? Sports car - deal with it?

Anything I can do?

This is a problem on a lot of cars, and Nissan is offering free replacement tires to 350Z owners (same car under the skin). Infiniti owners are getting the screw job, however. I need new tires at 15K miles because of this, totally feathering on the inside of the fronts. I am not racing the car, the tires should last at elast 25K miles.

Should we get together and complain to Infiniti? Why are Nissan owners getting better treatment??
