Re: New 35

get a custom NAV, they have dvd player features in it. and you can get LCD to pop out just like stock. have them install it for you. I would do it If I had cash.

but I love the birdeye view navigation in G35. I don't think aftermarket has one yet. if they do, definatly go for the aftermarket, for the same price you can get a dvd plyer.

Any car audio shop carries that stuff Morpheus. Where do you live?

Try a Best Buy if there is nothing else. In Tenesee, looks like there is one in Hickory Hollow, Rivergate, and Brentwood. They all have mobile electronics installation.

Re: New 35

If there is nothing else, it sounds kind of outrageous. The system itself only costs about 1500 or 2k. Unless you are getting an upgraded audio, I'd try to shop around. Or try to work that price down, because it does seem a bit high.

Yes Morpheus, you should shop around. 4K is way too expensive. It should be at most 2.5K with the installation. Also, I would check the installer's reputation. Some of these places have morons and they will rip you car apart.
Cheers.

Re: New 35

I was quoted 3.5K on a kenwood system... they say it's curretnly the best one in the aftermarket..... it'll have navi and a touchscreen interface... but that's about it.... and it won't be intergrated with the speakers.... and DVD movie will cost another 4~500...... good thing is it has birdeye view like the stock unit.....

Re: New 35

Morpheus
the dealer just didn't know any better. the Nav system can be modified to play DVDs.

since you didn't get it, you might try:
ps2 - $180 & alpine popup LCD $700-$800
or an alpine popup LCD DVD/CD/CDR/MP3 player - $1700-$2000

double din dash conversion from Japan - $300-$400

must shops don't know what to do with our G's because the A/C controlls are integrated with the stereo and no one is making a kit for it.

Re: New 35

check out www.eclipse-web.com
they have a new headunit AVN2454 that has NAV, DVD +MP3. best part about it, it goes right into a double din and doesn't pop up and out like the others to block your AC controls.

Re: New 35

I got mine everything under 1500 dollars.
I have 5.8 alpine screen, blaunkput dvd player in trunk ( has a sensor in front so you can use remote) custom mounted where OEM navigation is located, Emergency override switch(alpine has a security feature).
I live in GA, if you can come down here, I will be glad to help you out.
