Getting new tranny tomorrow

I'm dropping my car off tomorrow from its' new tranny and clutch thanks to all the posts I found on various forums. Three weeks ago I drove into my dealership and took my service manager for a ride. He also drove it and comfirmed the 3rd gear syncro problem. As we got back to the dealership a handed him a stack of forum printouts stating other dealerships were replacing these problem trannys. He then spoke to his dealer rep and they both haven't heard of this problem.... Strange.... But I guess they did some checking around because the new tranny was ordered and will be installed tomorrow. The service manger was surprised to see that a clutch was shipped... Thanks Infiniti!!!

had the SAME thing happen to me. mine was a 5th gear grind. Service manager said they would repair it IF it had a problem and that he hasnt heard of new trannys. TOTAL ***** if you ask me. He treated me like crap. Anyway, after I test drove w/ the Tech and convincing him that i DO know how to drive a stick and that I was pressing the clutch when shifting, he saw that it was grinding. I got a new tranny and a new clutch. 3 days old. Clutch feels SO different now for me and I think i broke it in, hehe I babied it for te first day, then BOOM hard shifts here we go...oops

They do know the problem exists (atleast corporate does). So don't let them play dumb, I even had an engineer that helped design the transmission call me trying to setup an appointment to hear it, and this is just NISSAN USA, not my dealer!!!!

I was thinking I might have the same problem in third gear. Its not all the time when i shift into thrid gear, its only when im racing, and it does it everytime. Don't get me wrong, i dont beat on the G everyday, but when im racing someone I feel myself holding back and going slow into third gear so I dont have to hear the grinding. Is this what happened to you, or did it grind all the time. And yes I do know how to drive stick shift...lol. So thats not the problem.

The latest tranny revision is 008. They should also replace your clutch and flywheel under warranty.

you should take your car in LaBeatit. even tho its not all the time, go test drive with the tech, and make sure you drive it to show them when it happens. you dont have to race, just make a quick shift and most likely it will happen. Mine had the same thing happen, only when shifting quick, and i always do even if im not racing. Then have the tech drive it, and tell him to shift quick or else it wont happen. thats what happened to me. and they should replace it. I dont think they replaced my flywheel tho, i just got new clutch and tranny....

I got my 2003 a few weeks ago with only 20k miles. I test drove it before I bought it but I didn't really beat on the car too hard even though I did take it on a brick rode to see if anything would rattle n stuff like that and it was solid as a rock. However, I didn't really go past 4th gear and I find myself in regret. It turns out my G grinds 5th gear either when up-shifting or down. I have an appointment on thursday @ Infiniti to get this taken care of. Whish me luck guys HOPE I GET A NEW TRANNY and a nice loaner to beat on LOL!!!

im paying $1700 to fix my clutch/tranny, dealer gave me a very hard time, even the headquarters gave me a hard time, i told them that $1700 was to much and i wanted them to tow my car back home and they told me that it would be $500 bucks for them looking at it,i figured i buy an aftermarket clutch but the labor at my local shops are crazy, so i gave up and had no choice but to have the dealer replace it, f*cking a$$holes!
