Does anyone have a desert platium coupe?
I'm seriously considering this color since everyone and there mother has the diamond graphite. Does anyone have pictures of there coupes in desert platium? I have yet to see one on the lot. I hope infiniti comes out with a midnight blue or a darker grey like the new accords.

From what I've seen, the DP is one of the less common colors to be sure.
However, pics WILL NOT do it justice. You have to see it in person. In pics, it'll either look like the graphite or silver depending on the camera angle. In real life, it looks like a million colors!
I would have gotten it myself, but my dealer gave me a choice of getting a silver coupe today or waiting another 2 1/2 - 4 months for the DP. I was impatient, and took the silver!
Heh... I'd probably just now be taking delivery if I'd waited for the DP. I could probably say it'd be worth the wait, but that's only because I've been driving a coupe for the last 10 weeks!!

You can usually find a g35 sedan on the lots in dp. I did see the coupe in the color, it looks great! If you want the coupe in silver but want something a tiny bit different it's a good option...it looks silverish but offers enough contrast to the silver wheels to make them pop. It also looks gold and a bit like blue from some angles/light. The color is hard to pin down...but "gold tinted silver" is a good overal description.
I liked it because it highlights the lines of the car well and offers interest without looking too "showy".

Desert Platinum appears to be a not too popular color on the coupes. My dealer tried very hard to get me to order willow interior, but I ordered graphite instead. This is a really neat combination. Cool color as it changes shades of color in different light. I like desert platinum, but then again I am bias since I own one

I dunno. DP is definitley a cool color. Very classy. I would say it looks more suited for someone a little older. The DG I would say for someone on the younger side. I got tricked when I got my DP, dealer said that the had the DG for me in stock, went down to dealer and whhadayaknow ... no DG, but had DP. Now I see the DG around ... make me jealous. I'm only 25, but still very happy with my baby, even if her sister DG is pretty hot.

I've got a Desert platinum, and I agree this color is hard to capture on film...
Here's a shot on a sunny day in February when we first got the car, it just looks like silver sometimes.
This shot was during summer at sunset, you can see some of the silver and gold.

I have a DP coupe. When I was looking for a coupe in December, I really didn't have a preference (other than that I didn't want black or red).
It is a pretty color, it goes through subtle color changes depending on the available light. It hides dirt well, and doesn't show chips as easily as the other colors.

Re: Does anyone have a desert platium coupe?
All the G35's metallic colors change dramatically in different lighting conditions, darker colors significantly more so. So Caribbean Blue and Diamond Graphite will vary more than Brilliant Silver and Desert Platinum, but all will do so much more than the red, black or Ivory Pearl (which is a pearlescent metallic but for some reason doesn't look that much different from a solid color).
The service manager explained to me (correctly, I hope) that the metallic colors were three part jobs: a color coat, a clear metallic coat and a separate clear top coat. Apparently this is why the finish looks so deep and reflects light in various ways. I suppose the multiple clear layers act as lenses or prisms of sorts when the light hits from different angles. It's also true that none of these colors seem to photograph in a way that illustrates this. Mine is DG and it goes through wondferfuI different color transformations as the light changes. The sun does it, and indoor lighting (like in my parking garage) does it too.
A pleasant surprise for me is that the DG seems to have a very high threshold for hiding road grime. I guess the medium grey shade is about as close to the same color as the grime as you can get! My previous car, a dark green BMW 325is, showed EVERY SINGLE BIT of dirt on it. Dust, water spots, puddle splashes...EVERYTHING. The car would stay clean looking for like a mile and a half. The DG 35 is the opposite. Such a pleasure for an urban dweller/parking garage tenant like me with no access to a hose and bucket. The car can really be quite dirty and look pretty clean.

With the performance pkg, you will get a combo of dp+titanium inside (willow and ti trim) and dp+ti outside (7spoke wheels +dp exterior colour). This is very rich and classy, integrated, and one thing that may not have been mentioned- the auto climate clontrol works far better with a light colour interior like the willow (doesn't mess with the sensors). And unlike red or black, it doesn't attract police like flies to shi..
