Surprised nobody has mentioned the Dodge Ram SRT-10

Standard features:
8.3 Liter v-10 (same as Viper)
500 Hp
525 tq
22 inch wheels
True Dual Exhaust
0-60 in just over 5 seconds

http://www.dodge.com/srt-10/photos.html

I'm not a big truck fan (cause I'm not a redneck ), but it's a mean looking truck. (I've seen a bunch of them as I live in North Central Florida)

Aside from the G, I also own a 2002 Ford F-350 crew cab long bed lariat (fully loaded). I have moded it a bit...i have a full 5 inch exhaust...5 inch down pipe...chip...and intake. I rape so many people in my truck...but once i get to around 60mph or so, my gearing is not meant for it...so i usually let off. My truck is heavy...believe me...around 8,500lbs empty, but the damn thing still moves. If you see a diesel pick up and its spewing out black smoke...i mean thick black smoke...then he is atleast running a chip, and i would becareful running it if you are worried about losing....just a thought.

I would only worry about the 2002-2003s . They are supercharged like the Lightnings. However, the 2001 and the newer 2006 aren't supercharged and have 260 and 300 hp respectively. There were no 2004 or 2005 HD F150s available.

He was spewing black smoke. I could see it from my rear view mirror . All in all, he never got in front of me. I've raced many cars and this huge pickup really moved for its size. With the flywheel, my third gear pulls just as good as second. I can take alot of cars with a third gear wind out. I didn't shake him until 4th gear.

"Surprised nobody has mentioned the Dodge Ram SRT-10"

I would have, but the topic was still on Turbo Diesels. We have at least two in my small West Texas city of about 125K. I was next to one at a light (before I had my G) and the thing sounded great at idle! Usually, OEM monsters like this still have a refined/subdued exhaust note (which may still sound mean). But that Ram SRT-10 sounds like a lot of the big-block, crate-motor rides at the local dragstrip. Plenty of mechanical menace making it's way through that exhaust system!

I own a loaded 2500 4 X 4 shortbed Dodge Cummins. Factory was 305HP/555TQ. Basic mods (programmer/exhaust) have the truck at roughly 415HP/700TQ. It weighs roughly 7000 pounds empty. As for smoking the rear tires, I have 34" on-off roads that can be reduced to dust from a stop or from a roll. Hilarious. The sound that baking 34s make on hot black pavement will make you pi$s yourself laughing, especially if you are behind the wheel.

All my mod money goes into my truck. I use it to pull an RV and the extra power comes in very handy. Nothing like being able to pass 18-wheelers going uphill on a 7% grade with 10,000 pounds on your bumper.

The mods help the gas mileage. When I'm running empty I get 16-18 around town and have seen as high as 24 on the highway. Towing I get between 12 - 14 depending on the hills and headwind.

The weak link in my truck is the tranny. (I wish I had an Allison but they won't bolt to the Cummins). Looking at getting an aftermarket torque convertor when I get up to the PNW. The AUTO that comes in the Dodge is good for at least 610TQ (the 05s come from the factory rated at 610TQ), but I don't know HOW LONG that rating will stand up towing . I also want to get a set of guages installed on the pillar for boost, tranny temp, and EGT. I don't spew black smoke but it does get a little dark when I put my foot in it. I love to pull next to lowered ricers and let my 4" exhaust complicate their world.

SRT 10s are nice. I'd love to put a tow strap on one and drag it all over the mall parking lot.

Diesels own. I'll never own another gas truck. Check out this run (not me obviously):

Diesel Drag

note he has a toolbox and running boards. LOL..

Gee - Lots of guys around here have come to find that the Allison transmission wasn't all it's cracked up to be. At 3-4 times the cost of replacement of a normal tranny, some of these guys have ended up with tranny repair bills that are more than the value of the truck (3-4 yr. old trucks). Might be worth looking into.

Understood and agree. The 48RE 4AT in the Dodge has had it's issues as well. Behind a stock motor they're nearly bulletproof - they can handle what the truck can generate and manage the tow rating nicely provided you don't try to pull a lot of weight in overdrive. My truck is rated to tow ~13,000 pounds stock so I'm well within my limits, but as the HP/TQ climbs past factory spec (very easy to make happen with the Cummins) you can eat the 48RE up pretty quick.

I'll likely just mod the TQ convertor. If the tranny ever goes (probably long after this truck is gone and I get my dualie) it can be replaced at that time. Hopefully by someone else. LOL..

Very, very nice.

Pricey toys though. Think they are about double the cost of our G.
Nope, very reasonable. The price premium over a gas truck is $5 or $6K. My truck was stickered at $42,800 but we went out the door much lower.

My gas mileage (loaded and unloaded) got better after 10K. If it improves from here it's gravy.

A buddy of mine just bought an 05 Dodge smoker - sticker was about the same as mine and he bought at $34K.

Gas trucks aren't cheap either - if you get one with a motor in it. Loaded HEMI Rams are in the mid-30s easy. They sell for less, but the stickers are up there.
