Fast Pickup Truck

I was approaching an intersection with an open lane. I knew that lanes merge up ahead, so I always outgun the car next to me for favorable position. Today, in the victim lane was a Ford Duelie. Well, I eat trucks and SUVs for breakfast so I thought. The light turns green and I get the early jump. I got in front, but there was something really different about this truck. He stayed uncomfortably close in my rear view. We approach another red light and we are lined up once again. This time we both take off quickly, but no burnout. He gets held up by a car making a right turn, so I continued on. I'm cruising at around 50 and he comes a-chargin. I was at the bottom of third and I thought to myself no need to downshift. I rode third and this truck was still gaining fast. I found myself at the top of third and he was right at my bumper. I shift into fourth and slowly and I mean slowly walked away. The next light, he yells over "what kinda car is that?". I replied "a G35", and he gives me a thumbs up. I got the impression he usually won his races. It was then I noticed on his door the words "F350 Turbodiesel". When I get home, I hit the net and found out this car's specs: 6.0L, 32 vavle turbocharged V8, 363 hp @3300 rpm and 560 ft/lb @2000 rpm I don't know what the weigh, but with that much torque down low...good lord! Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. If I was sleeping at the wheel, he would've took me and I would've been playing catch up. This truck gave me a better run than the E36 M3 I raced two weeks ago. Happy hunting

Those turbo diesel has huge aftermarket support, and can be tuned to make LOTS of

horsepower.. (free up the exhaust, dial up the boost, and off you go..)

Yeah they put down a lot of power but also weigh a ton, one truck to watch out for is a Ford Lightning. Those have FI and will usually kill us.

Banks, Bully Dog, and I forget the other company have great kits for turbo diesels! You can literally smoke the tires off the truck with these kits! Can you imagine roasting 33-35 inch tires! LMAO

They also make propane injection etc. What's great about the diesel motors is these kits can almost double the stock HP safely and often include parts to beef up the tranny!!

Next time try that wih a Lightning or Harley Edition 150 and see how bad you get smoked! LOL Those are fast friggin trucks man! But useless in snow or rain! LOL

With the mods you have listed, and the way his rig's running...he probably spents some money at Banks or has propane...Good run however.

I don't know how modded he was, but he left a trail of black smoke behind him (I could see it in my rearview). I'll give it up to the Lightening, but the Harley, no.

You guys beat me on the Banks call. That's what I'm guessing they'll make any TD crazy. Those diesel engines can put some serious power down low. My friend has a Ram 2500 CTD and puts out 400tq at about 2k redlines by 3500

Like I said, the guy seemed pretty suprised that he didn't beat me. Now that I think about it, there was a funny smell in the air like when you're behind someone that's flooring it, but multiply that by 5 times. Kinda hard to describe.

Not saying he had what's below, but he might've. (Hey, I'm in Texas. I know trucks.)

700 pound-feet of torque at the rear wheels at just 2400 rpm will get you where you need to go in a real hurry. I saw a test of an F350 dualie with a Six-Gun setup on one of those Danica Patrick-hosted TNT shows ("Trucks!" I think). Gale Banks was driving, and he roasted the dual rears for half a city block. Looked like a forest fire broke out on the tarmac.

Nice generalization. So are you a stuck up snobby ***** driving an Infiniti? I have a couple friends with diesels and they are in no way rednecks. Hell I even live in KY and they aren't rednecks

Trucks yes. Gale Banks driving? Haven't seen that one, the host drove the truck and on the 6 setting he lit it up across a parking lot.

I have a buddy that can roast his tires through a 1/4 mile pass. Those trucks are not something to be taken lightly. A Cummins (Dodge) is by far the most powerful but the Powerstroke (Ford) is most common. They can upgrade and run about 50 LBS. of boost and some highly modified TD's run up to 200 lbs.

The newer HD F150s have the exact same motor as a Lightning. I remember my friend and I raced one in his S55 AMG and that thing was even with us off the line, we barely pulled him. Check out the specs at the link below.

Those Turbo Diesels are nuts. They are super powerfull and you can really turn them up when the air flows through them more freely. I have an Avalanche 2500 and right now I am around 400hp and 500lb/ft at the crank with the mods I am running. I can't beat the G, but I can run close. The duramax is crazy. I saw a boost dial that you turn to make it go fast and a shortbox regular cab 2500 duramax ran 12's.

Turbos and Diesel are a perfect match! Diesels LOVE turbos. These trucks also respond very well to mods, like most turbocharged vehicles will.

I'm in West Texas, where the trucks are more akin to rigs. You can hear most of the Turbo Diesel rigs out here sporting aftermarket BOVs and big-*** turbos. Just because they're in a truck doesn't mean they don't like big horsepower.
